Recent purchase, I have put about 1k on it since August of this year. Bike has a T800 upmap, and toce (unbaffled) exhaust slip on. Neither of which are my doing, so I cannot speak to modification specifics. I do have the original exhaust. On a recent chilly morning of about 40 F I noted a studder and rough idle about 1/4 mile from the house. After stalling, it started but was not happy at idle and has the MIL light. OBD reader indicates a confirmed P061B and a pending P0418.
I have not had any issues thus far with the bike, including a very spirited 250 mile day in September. Report from the OBD screen caps below.

I am not sure where to start on this, I have considered clearing them and seeing what happens. I have not found any results on the web or forum specific for these two fault codes on a Ducati V2, or really any Ducati.

I hate that my first post here was looking for help, this is my first Ducati and something if I don't do now I never will. Thanks. Diag Codes 18 DEC 2024.pngScreenshot 2024-12-18 220358.pngScreenshot 2024-12-18 220641.png

Short running stats pulled. I cracked the throttle at start up idle and it lagged and stalled immediately.

I'd start at inspecting the secondary air injection system since that's what the error codes point toward. I'd check if there are block off plates installed on the cylinder heads (and they're attached correctly, no loose bolts) and if there's a terminator plug installed on the plug for the solenoid, which unfortunately you're going to have to pull the tank to get at. Maybe you can get a look at it if you removed the tank bolts and lifted it slightly.

my notes:

P0418 = secondary air system failure. you need to check the valve that has two hoses that run to each cylinder head...that valve or plug or hose has failed buddy. this is common error.

P061X = injector error, need to check connections to each injector are good.

Good luck my man

Many thanks for the detailed response BP. Looks like I have I start, I will look at this and post what I find. I will most likely have some follow up ?'s. This isn't my EXC250, the versys 650 or my childhood elsinore 125.

SirJAG, is there a resource that puts these common codes into meaningful Ducati components and systems? The details you posted were much more descriptive than anything I found in general search terms. I found zero posts in forums matching these codes and Ducati. General searches are overwhelmingly automotive. And thanks for the feedback. It is meaningful to see buy-in to online advice.

A bit of advice if you pull the tank. Most will disconnect the hose from the T fitting than splits to the upper and lower injectors. Be gentle when removing it, if you don’t want to replace the hose. There’s a service bulletin that advises to replace that hose every time the tank is removed. I don’t think that’s necessary in every circumstance, YMMV. At 5K miles, that hose likely has had a lot of heat cycles.

I think you have a bit of exploratory work to do since the bike was used and modded. You never know the capabilities of the previous owner.

You should be able to Google (likely from this site) a copy of the service manual.

Rear cylinder block off plate was loosely snug. I could see movement when pressing on the corner of the plate not secured with a fastener. So I removed it and discovered it warped. It is an EDR branded plate made of dense plastic. That matches what I presume is the ECU, under the tank to the throttle side, which has their label on it along with date and invoice.

Haven't looked under the tank into the air box yet, but I am fairly certain this block off plate could not be sealing, no matter how tight. PXL_20241228_212922865.MP.jpg

Ordering a replacement pair, does anyone here have a recommendation on material or specific vendor? I quickly found some billet aluminum plates, but they are a little pricey. I am also not familiar with the application beyond my own experience that these plastic plates are not meant for long term use.

Also, is the front cylinder block off plate behind the battery? Sheesh.

Airbox looks clean, still trying to sort what it is I am looking for.

Here is one site.

I didn't realize you were working on a V2. In that case, pulling the tank should be a lot easier. I suspect the connectors on the injectors aren't likely the culprit, as they look to be connected. I suspect its the connection where the wire harness goes into the airbox. I suggest undoing it and inspecting the pins for any sign of corrosion or damage.

Jetprime or SmartMoto. Any machined aluminum one should work better that 3d printed plastic. Driven Racing, Apex Racing, Spider etc may be cheaper, but don't come with the terminator plug.

V2 block off for the horizontal cylinder are on the opposite side from the battery, if memory serves.

Parts finally arrived, DHL from Greece.

Front block off on the V2 is kinda a pain to reach behind the canister and the abs. Front plate was more warped than the rear. As warped as these are, and also looking at the ports themselves, it seems these certainly were pulling in a significant amount of air. This may explain the gurgle and pop off throttle. Front and rear ports appear a bit dirty.

The smart moto kit came with the plates, hardware, a plug, and a wired connector jumper.
I can see plugged port to the throttle side (right) of the rear air box intake. I think that part looks fine. I cannot locate where this jumper would be connected.PXL_20250118_163419983.MP.jpg
Presuming I have not missed anything in the air box, I am cleaning up some parts and fairings while they are off then buttoning this baby up.

It plugs into the connector that plugs into the actuator, part 14 in the diagram. The rubber plug would block off the hole in the bottom of the airbox where the actuator would normally plug into. It isn't entirely necessary to remove it (the actuator). If you aren't getting error codes, it may be disabled in the ECU or someone already fitted a terminator plug.
