Still awaiting for my 2021 SF to arrive. Anyone manage to listen to both year’s exhausts and can tell how big is the difference?

I fell in love with the loud exhaust on the Euro 4 model during my test ride. Hopefully the 2021 Euro 5 wont have such a big difference in decibels.

I am in the same situation. Waiting for my new SF with Euro 5 exhaust. I am hoping that it is a bit more quiet though ;-)

I was told by the Ducati dealer here in Bologna that the Euro 5 is required to be more quiet. I haven't looked up what that definition is but... It's like that. Ducati has usually found a work around with things like the butterfly baffle valves meeting EU specs at certain revs, but wide open, it's...wide open. People just delete things like butterfly valves or entire exhaust systems replacing with Akrapovič system for the low low price of €4k-5k & change.
There are guys on the forum that are versed in that DIY / custom versions as well.

It is for emissions. Here are the differences:

This brings motorcycles to the same level as cars. Euro 5 is Euro 6 in cars.

if you need the stock exhaust opened up and don't have to go to annual emissions checks, i can surely help you...

Who cares just rip the stock exhaust off and have a good time listening to the engine. The stock exhaust work euro 4 for the states is too quiet

I have the 21 euro 5 SFV4S and I’am happy to report that it is as loud as my Panigale V4S 2018 with the standard exhaust fitted, still homologated with 106dB

If you are leaving the bike stock, the EU 5 is much better looking than EU 4 in the under seat section.

Is there a difference in the pipe layout? I kinda see two kinds.
One horizontally “coiled”, the other one was vertically. Is that it?

Kind of sucks. If the power is the same as Ducati claims the Euro 5 version looks better.

I don't know if everything else is equal though as to temp, noise etc.

Power is the same but at 500 more revs, max torque also the same but 2000rpm earlier which I see as an improvement

It's really hard to compare things because the traction control and electronics has been revised as well. They test it on an engine dyno but in the real world the electronics package has a say in the results as well.

On an engine dyno it may make more power or power in different RPM ranges, but the electronics could be limiting it in the real world as not to exceed the traction of the tire. This isn't necessarily a bad thing either.

You only get Euro 5 on bikes sold in the markets where that applies. So if you are in the US, you'll get the old style.

So Ducati is making two versions of the bike now, a Euro 4 and Euro 5?

Does that mean that markets that gets the Euro 4 models will miss out on the other small improvements like self-bleeding front brake and clutch pumps?

Euro 5 is only the exhaust. The 2021+ models get the brake and clutch pumps (master cylinders) from the Superleggera.

I would imagine they'll keep shipping bikes with the EU 4 exhaust until they run out of parts and will make them all the same.
