Hello,
My Streetfighter stalls if you hold the throttle just off idle. I first noticed at a traffic light on a slight grade, I am trying to hold the bike with a little bit of throttle and clutch. It will start spitting and sputtering and then stall. I can do it at anytime by holding the throttle just off idle. Had it at the dealer for its first service this week and had them check it out. They reset all the adaptives. It idled higher for a bit but once the adaptives started to settle in, it starting throwing its fits again. Anyone else seeing this?? The bike runs perfect otherwise but this is not right. Thanks.

Video would help but is difficult to take without help. I personally would just give more throttle. What gasoline are you using? I try to avoid anything below 98 octane.

I kinda agree on fuel quality or a change in quality can cause intermittent stalling on take off. My local co-op sells 100% 93 but I have had stall it a few times when using shell 93 when I go on adventures. It really isn't the bike but me adjusting the characteristics of the different fuel.

imho, holding on a hill with the clutch will have a detrimental effect on longevity.

Think they all do it, I took mine back to the dealer for a check over, does the same. I have just ordered the upmap to see if that helps. I tested a new one also at the dealer and they could not even get it started.took about 2 minutes to start then it did the same. Mine doesn’t stall but it feels like it wants too

Here is a video I did yesterday when I got it home. Hopefully it posts as I never posted a video to a forum before. I only use 93 octane in it as its the highest I have around here. Also as far as the clutch. I have never had to replace a clutch on any of my bikes. I wouldn't do it on a steep grade and only do it when t he light is ready to turn green with a light throttle.

Thanks for the replies!!

BTW.. I own 4 Ducatis so Im no stranger to them. None of the others do this.

I wouldn’t imagine an engine tuned to make insane horsepower north of 13,000 revs would have any kind of useable torque around idle. Are the Ducs variable valve like the BMW and R1?

The video is set to private.

As for feathering the clutch like that… it’s not only about clutch wear, you’re putting unnecessary heat into the system as well as wearing the clutch. This also means you contaminate the oil more than you have to.

Just use the rear brake when at a stop.

Ok I fixed the video to unlisted. You should be able to see it. Forget about me using the brake. It does it anytime your holding the throttle just off idle. In neutral or in gear.

How long has it been doing this for you?

I have no issues with my ‘21 even in 110 degree ambient temps.

Probably the last 200 miles. Only have about 500 on it.

Mine doesn't stall at idle, but I know that it doesn't like quick short blipping. It's almost as if the ECU thinks you're abrupt twist of the throttle will be prolonged and cuts the fuel to prevent it from giving it all and potentially looping. Since the idle is so low in RPM is will sometimes stall.

Other than it cooks your nuts.

This is odd behavior. My stock (engine & exhaust) V4S doesn't do this at all.

I raised it during my first service, they said they didn't see anything wrong.
What state are you in? And what is your lemon law? Then I’d present this to your dealer under the pretense that this phenomenon creates an unsafe riding condition. If this happens at a stop light and the bike stalls as the light turns green this puts you at high risk of the car behind you running you over accidentally. Then demonstrate this stalling for them while recording their reaction to present as evidence for your lawsuit.

From what I read on many reviews this is a common issue with the Panis & Sfs. I installed much shorter final gearing which dramatically helps takeoff among other things, the bike is geared way too tall for anything other than the Autobahn.

True. A tune fixes all this. Stock fueling on these bikes has been an issue from Day 1. In my case and many others, once the bike has had a decent fuel and ign map programmed, all of those issues have disappeared.

Gearing change (up a couple of teeth in the back) helps but I would get that engine mapping where it needs to be. You will be much happier with the bike overall. Bren, Woolich, TB, etc.

I started with a stock map (OEM ECU)when I built the bike. Bike would stall intermittently off idle. Bike would stall randomly when first started sitting at idle. Woolich tune, hasn’t stalled in any situation in 3 years.
