Will not be going back to the dealer.

Did not overfill the oil but also they did not clean the old oil off the bottom of the engine so it was billowing smoke once I got home with the bike..

Charged me nearly 2 hours of labour as well to install radiator guards while the fairings were already off as well..

$600 all said and done...

Having done radiator guards on a Streetfighter V4 and a Panigale V4, two hours seems about right. Taking the fairings off is the easy part.

I watched some videos on it and it did not seem too bad. I thought Ducati techs could bang it out pretty quickly especially as the fairings were already off anyways.

I think my frustration stems from the fact they told me it should be a quick 30 mins or so job, then once it comes time to pay the labour time is 4x what I was expecting based off what the SA told me.

With the V4 bikes, you have to separate the oil cooler and radiator from the support. Its almost easier to pull the front wheel and take off the entire radiator support assembly and deal with it off of the bike. Once the oil is drained you won't have any meaningful amount of oil coming from the oil cooler lines and while you're at it you can swap for Engine Ice if you fancy track riding...while you're at it just go ahead and install a full Akrapovic system. :p

I too would be annoying if they mis-quoted a job which ended up costing me a few hundred dollars more.

Must have some nice roads where you live based on the tire wear

Unfortunately no, here in Vancouver we only have the Sea to Sky highway as our closeby twisty road that is big enough for a V4. When it is empty it's very nice and quite scenic as well.

Recently there has been a blitz on speeders/motorcycles here which results in a cop on every corner (almost quite literally, saw 7 over a 50km stretch).

There are some nice roads out east but it takes an hour and a half to drive out to anything remotely twisty and I am just way too lazy to stuff the bike on the trailer after work and go out there.

Did they give you an estimate prior to the work being done? If the estimate deviates significantly at the end without you authorizing that extra cost, that dealer may be violating consumer law depending son where you’re located.

You gotta get out of the city my man. Deroche is a great 1.0 hour run, then there is Burnaby mountain. Some very good corners you can string together.. Lots of places to play without cops pulling you over on every corner. And if you push on past squambucks, you can get on it without worries. Of course S2S is loaded with tourists, so you gotta expect cars, campers, boat trailers are going to be a thing. If you see a 21 Ducati SP on the road, send me a wave!

I've also heard random complaints about Langley Ducati, not sure about Richmond.. but the service shop at highroad in Vancouver has been very good to me and the bike. They have done Termi pipes, radiator guards, and a couple protection items. Had one warrantee issue, but they were clearly looking after me in dealing with Ducati. And yeah, $400 break-in service, and a $700 2nd service is expensive, but I didn't buy a Grom :)

jesus $700 for the second service?? Is it not just an oil change?

No, they do a brake line flush, check your battery health, adjust clutch, oil, chain service, tires... its not just oil. And to be honest, while I could do most of this at home, the service history is tracked and documented for the future. May not be as important on a non limited production unit.

If you live in the USA, you can do your own bike service (even the first service) and not void your warranty as long as you do it correctly and have documentation to show what you did. It is also common in my area to receive crappy service from Ducati dealers (overfilled oil, oil left all over bottom of bike, chemicals/grease on tank, service tech test rides at 100+ mph). I want to give my dealer money and save myself work, but I can't trust them. I have even replaced parts at my own expense that were under warranty to avoid the dealer (fuel sensor on XDiavel - common failure).

The greasy handprints left all over the bike really does piss me off.

I swear if I ever ran a Ducati service center at a minimum outgoing bikes would be hit with quick detailer and a microfiber towel.
