I’ve heard the 2023 and later V4S has an annoying lull in second gear where the power delivery just pauses for a bit, UNLESS you install the full Akropovich exhaust. I’ve heard this can become very annoying and it’s unlike any other previous Ducati model/performance. Is there any validity to this claim?

Kind of. I don't think this is much of a hardware thing, exhaust etc., vs a software thing, engine fuel mapping etc. If all you are looking to do is to remove the power dip, a flash is likely a cheaper and more effective option. For sure there is a cut at the exact range where noise and or emissions testing occurs.

All that being said, ride the bike and decide if that's really the thing that's slowing you down.

Cheers mate. My bikes have never been to the track, and I ride them due to my admiration for Ducati. I don’t find them crazy uncomfortable or running hot. I have heard that the lull is due to emissions and it frustrates many people. I haven’t don’t the exhaust on any models post the 1098, so the exhaust was not something on my list. Do you find it bearable with the stock exhaust, or is it something that will have to be addressed to avoid absolute annoyance? Cheers.

It depends. Are you riding when its 95 F outside or 35 F? Even then, what one person perceives as uncomfortable may be acceptable to another.

Don’t shift out of first till you hit 60 or so with the higher rpm’s. The noise levels are usually measured at 50 mph or so doing a steady cruise on the rpm. I have a 23 V4S and I don’t have any issues. Twist the throttle like you mean it, and put the throttle spacers in it to get rid of the slop

Sorry, I meant the lull in the performance. Do you find that bearable with the stock exhaust or is the lull definitely something that would be found to be very annoying? Cheers.

The V4s still have the throttle play? I heard they remedied that.. Cheers.

Base V4 with full Akra here, but when in Dynamic engine setting there is a pause I don't like, putting the engine to Full solves the mapping issue for me.

I maybe rode it twice with the stock map and exhaust. I put a Termi slip-on shortly after getting it, and eventually put a full Akrapovic system on after finding one for a great price. I rode it using the Termi tune a couple of time but then got a tune from DeussenEngines.

The seat heater (that ... on fire thing) is the same whether you have stock exhaust or not. I would buy a tune first. Most of the power gains are from the mapping anyway. Unless you can get lucky and find a used exhaust cheap I won't bother. Way too expensive for the gain. For that money you can buy wheels, sicom rotors etc.

Cold be non-related, but my SFv4 had a nasty hole around 5k rpm, (I assume) because of all the EU5 crap. Switching to full Akra and the corresponding map cured it.

Yes, that’s what they’re saying with the new bikes. The HP has been decreased and the power delivery in 2nd is a bit to be desired. The only fix is the Akro exhaust. I was just wondering how tolerable this lull is, or if adding the exhaust is a definite must. Looks like everyone is installing the exhaust.

Ducati spent a lot of effort figuring out how to get 214 HP thru the converters. Most of the power gain is from the remapping. I can't even begin to explain the things they did to make the motors more docile. Multiple layers of restriction. Once you undo all of that they are some vicious bit of kit. Akro is about $1000 per HP. Buy a good tune, some wheels, sicom rotors... way better ways to spend that money IMHO.
