Here's the ONLY video circulating with a STANDARD 1199 Pani :)))). Looks pretty damn sexy to me, not so much the pilion seat installed lol. Passenger foot rest pretty slick too.

Kinda disappointed with Ducati and the press tho for not giving the std 1199 any track time and info is limited.

I guess because that model sells it self. Some dealers sound pretty clueless also on delivery dates...this anxiety is killing me lol

Dont't sweat it. Once in the street, normal people won't be able to tell the difference between the standard and the S. As far as your dealer goes, he probably knows less about your future ride than you do, and if you were to ask about delivery date, the answer will be "soon".
Happy waiting!

Yes, this is typical of anyone producing a product - Advertise the full spec version.

However, in this case, it wouldn't hurt to also advertise the standard as its specs are still above offerings from Japan and BMW.

Not the only video of the base; you must've missed this one from EICMA back in November:

But for sure everything's focused on the S, as will always be the case whether it's a new bike, a new car, or a new anything else. Tout the one with the bling (and the margin that goes with it), and let the standard models ride the marketing coattails.

Besides, if they let all the journo's ride them back to back and they came away reporting that it felt just as good and the non-abs brakes felt better on track, then whoever's bright idea that was would probably get fired... ;)

Steve B your last statement makes a lot of sense..I guess I'm just anxious to see how the two compair, the std and the S with electronic suspention :).

I think most ppl who intend on putting their baby on a track will probably not order the ABS, frankly, I would never order it. I'm glad they included the DTC on the last 1198 and it seems like it will now be one of there standard traits.

I personally set my DTC @ 2 because I like to use a lot of engine breaking entering a corner...and I dont mind my rear slide out a bit ;). It'll be interesting to see how this Engine Breaking feel.

Cheers

That would be the EBC, which most of us will turn off. DTC only comes into play when you are on the gas.

I would like to see a video of the base model in action, being ridden aggressively by Bayliss.

DRSapp you're wrong sir, DTC does not only interfare during acceleration!

My first few times experimenting with DTC on my 1198, the dealer had it set at 5. After the bike was broken and I rode a little more aggressive I started to realize that for my riding style 5 was too high since it would make my rear tire chatter when I down shifted aggressive as I do.

That was because the DTC sensed that the tire was slipping (tho under my control) and used the engine to make the bike happy.

I then change my settings @ 2 and that allowed some ammount of slipping and difference in speeds between from wheel and rear wheel.

Sir, EBC im sure an expert would agree with me, is simply DTC further refined or a chapter in the DTC book per say

Hey all,

I've just joined the forum.....found this thread when hunting for likely delivery date rumours, due to have my bog standard with ABS delivered in April (so they say!).

For those of us waiting on the standard model, don't fret about those pesky S pilots. When he pulls up to you at the lights, just point out his skinny little 43mm forks and ask if he's worried about the "snapping in half under heavy braking" rumours.... ;-)

I gather dates have slid a little (for the UK anyway) but that overtime is being pulled in Bologna and they are hoping to catch it up...

Overtime in Bologna.....ha ha, I reckon that means they're seriously considering coming back to work after lunch.... :))
