After starting to think the AGV website would never return, its back today after being WIP for like 2-weeks!

News of their new flagship helmet makes the front page:

Previously known as Project-46, PISTAGP its being formally announced at a press conference tomorrow night at Jerez.

Anyone care to speculate on price?

I say EUR999 and double for a carbon shell version

what a beauty!

you might be a bit low with the price, considering the arai rx-7 rc is 3k euros - and this is a race replica of one of the most popular riders...

have you seen the vid of the r&d they put into it?

I guess you can wait at least one months, maybe two before getting solid informations from AGV. Went today to my Dainese Store, staff was just discovering it on Internet...

Updates....

So, Pista GP ships in Feb for Europe.

Two colours - Black development graphics (as above) and Elements.

I ordered Elements, as I prefer it (just) to the gloss black weave:

Another model has also been announced the Corsa, which is essentially a carbon/kevlar Pista GP.

Some more colours, plus the only Ltd edition they are doing for 2013.

from all the information i have seen on this helmet the corsa is the way to go. great review of the pista gp on revzilla.com anthony says the corsa is the functional helmet for the street.

I agree.

Fortunately, my climate is rather digital, very hot, or cold, so I can get away without louvered vents.

Also, only EUR100 cheaper and I'm a sucker for carbon weave.

I have the Arai Rx-7 RC and love it. I would also be interested to see the fit of this one too. Sucker for the CF weave it looks neat.

exactly the same for me. but i like my schuberth sr1 also. it fits me better-the arai has a better view and is easyer to put on.
maybe pista combine the pros!

Now, I like carbon fiber and both the Arai RC and this helmet look great. But, at only a 7oz weight savings and equivalent safety as the other top of the line models, it is really difficult for me to spend $3-4K on it.

I completely agree and its a shame that Arai can't produce the RC in a more cost effective fashion.

The PistaGP is gonna cost around EUR800, which is pretty much where a top line Shoei or Arai would be.

I used to swear by arai, and raced with them. I tried the agv gp tech and loved it, so Im looking forward to the pista. My only problem with arai is, the new helmets are basically the old rx7 that is 15 years old, some might say if it works why change, but for me they just went from $450 to $850.

Had this baby delivered today! Its nothing short of stunning, even better in person. The finish over the GP-Tech is higher, and weighs alot less than it too!

Gotta get one of these. How does it fit compared to the same size in GP-Tech or Arai Corsair?

Yes, that would be good feedback to have.

What are your thoughts Pumpdad?

TBH, I'm pleased that AGV have managed to hit a 700-800euro price point, as it makes the PistaGP a very good proposition in terms of design innovation and price.

I would struggle to go out and spend what, 600-700euro, on a top line Arai/Shoei, seeing how their helments have remained largely unchanged over the past few seasons ..... other than for massive price increases
