I'm not really sure where to post this on the form so here goes.

I really want to put a exhaust on my new 1299. The default everyone goes with is the Akra exhaust. However from what I can tell the sound doesn't improve drastically although the power does improve a bit. I know the build quality is second to none but I was wondering about a few others that might exist. Right now I am wondering about termi, Austin or compitition werkes. I don't really want to start a religious war over the exhaust. However, I'm wondering if any of you have experiences?

Also, my dealer informed me that if I installed anything else but the Akra had them do it it would void my warranty. I've been a long time Harley Davidson owner and they have never been that strict. Is anybody know if this would be the case?

Thanks for the help and please feel free to move this to the appropriate form if this is not it.

Firsty before you do anything get yourself another Dealer...any Dealer that pulls this nonsense isn't worth your money.....

It will not void your warranty. I immediately suggest you find a new and honest dealer.

The Akra imo has the best sound, least weight and its full titanium and cf.. Its sex hanging from your bike. Although the Termi's are not bad at all by any means. Austin Racing?? Just erase that from your vocabulary. I'll try to find the thread for you. Comp werkes.. Umm no clue.

That's exactly what I thought. The next nearest dealer is two hours away and I think it's worth the drive.

Thanks for that! Yeah I like the way the Akra looks I just wish it had a slightly deeper sound.

The akra isn't a big difference in sound??

You must not have heard one in person and more specifically, with the db killers removed. It sounds NOTHING like stock. Stock may idle and sound similar low in the rpms but is tinny as you rev up. Akra is LOUD all over the revs.

What Phil does with the stock cans is pretty impressive. This is easily the best bang for the buck aftermarket exhaust option out there.

The new Termi design is another viable option. The carbon slip-on design looks great, and the new full system is reportedly even lighter than the Akra. Performance details should be coming out over the next few weeks.

While you have a point I haven't heard one in person what I have heard online and read in reviews said it wasn't loud. I think I finally decided to either just bite the bullet and go with the Akra or get feels mock want to start doing them for the 1299.

The Akra is louder by my measurement with a sound meter. You notice it much more at high revs, If my earplugs are not in correctly it gets uncomfortable for me.

I have a hard time spending that kind of coin on an exhaust since the bike already sounds so damned good. I just ordered a full termi for 1600 from a member on here and am looking forward to what the termi is like. Wouldn't hurt to shop around if you're not dead set on akra...I definitely would have gone with the akra if I didn't find the termi for less than half the price.

I had the full termi system on my 1199S but have the Akra system on my 1299S. The Akra wins hand's down in terms of quality and fit and sounds deeper. I've always had termi's on my Ducati's but would have a hard time going back from Akraprovic's now.

Agreed. I had Termi on 1199 and Akra on 1299, the Akra is way louder, almost too loud really. If you're worried about lack of noise I'd try and hear one in person before making a decision.

Yes, its definitely louder. It will be interesting to see if it passes the noise test at a track day, even with the removable baffles in place. A certain amount of leniency is given to the 1199/1299 as it wouldn't pass the noise test with the standard exhaust so fingers crossed.

If you want to drive from Nashville to Louisville Commonwealth Motorcycles is an excellent dealer - no BS, extremely knowledgeable service and sales staff. I live in Cincinnati and drive the 2.5 hours down.

1. Your dealer is a ....... tell him I said so. He's a ....... who clearly knows ZERO about federal law.

2. This has been debated about 5000+ times on this forum. The akrapovic is the exhaust to get. Looks, sound, power all are 10x what the Termis are. The AR is a low quality, ugly piece of .....

I dont see how people can still ask this question? Have you not read the countless akra reviews? The exhaust is incredible....

There's a video of the Termis on the R and the Akro on the SL here. It is difficult to know how the systems sound like online, but you get a great idea when done side by side. The motocorsa video when the SLs first came out, with the bikes on in the shop and doing a drive by on the bridge is a great example of how these Akros sound.

The Akro is lighter and sounds deeper than the Ti termis. I have not heard the Akro with the Termi with the SSTK headers nor the new Carbon Termis side by side. Maybe YouTube has em.

PS

Don't waste your time on AR or CW.

That was all before the new Carbon Termis - I can't wait for someone to get it on a dyno - I can't say how it compares to others, but for me it was an awesome improvement from stock.
