Akrapovic Full System Broken?

Either
1) Your ears are screwed up
2) There's something obstructing your exhaust
3) Your stock system had a defect that made it sound just like an Akra when it was stock.

Go to the dealer or find someone local with an 1199 and do a sound comparison. It sounds magnificently different and only takes one start to sound that way.

They are having a man rag day. No worries :)

Well, if you can't tell the difference then so be it, but don't expect a credible answer from the wife though (no offence meant) because mine knows sh*t about bikes!!

On a serious note, that Akra is loud, maybe so loud you can't tell it's a different note riding it, just more volume?! Try asking people who you go out riding with, they'll set you straight.

Also, as silly as it sounds, try ear plugs. These will cancel out a lot of the noise (!) and let you hear the different acoustics of it all.

Not to add more .... into this tightly packed bag of .... but, my factory cans were AND ARE louder than 3-5 sets of slip-termi's...(never tampered with)

I am in no way saying stock is better/worse, there is no question aftermarket term's are better lighter etc BUT the slips really aren't that different in sound (and in the few cases I've personally experienced, a bit quieter than my stock)...

As for the Arka full, I've only seen/heard video's and they seem to be much deeper/bass(ier)/louder than stock so maybe the packing DOES need to be broken in...

My Yoshi exhaust on my Honda took a few (beat the .... out of it) rides to break in the packing and wake them up...

Do the Akra's come with a db killer (reducer, whatever you want to call it) pre-installed like the Termi system does? If you're not looking up there it can be hard to miss I suppose and would explain the lack of sound... Just a shot in the dark.

maybe they sent him a set without the cats in the stock cans or a set of my cans...

was the bike new or used? did the stock cans have hex mesh covers?

;)

I'm still scratching my head at those of you who care what an exhaust sounds like in the first place. It's an exhaust. It gets rid of by products of combustion. Basically it's the ....... of your engine. So I don't get why you want louder or deeper sounding flatulence.

I'd prefer if there was no sound period...then I wouldn't have to ride with ear plugs in. I just like to ride....could care less what it sounds like.

I think an electric bike would be a good option for you. I have to disagree with you though. I love to hear my bike. The sound of it is one of the things that draws me to Ducati the most.

Yeah, but nothing puts a grin on my face and makes me laugh like a f*cking good fart or a f*cking good handful of throttle/wailing through my Akra pipes out of a corner!!............... must watch out for the follow through though........

Each to their own, PARP!!!!!! :D

OMG bro, it should be like, way louder duuuude. WTTFFFF???!!?!!/11

So take it off and sell it.

If not then contact your reseller or Akrapovic themselves... contrary to popular belief this forum did not build this exhaust nor are we the foremost experts on its operation

Sorry Rob but you kinda sound like a troll :)

I've not been able to tell any difference in the volume between stock, Termi and Akra; they are all very loud. However, the Akrapovic sounds way cleaner, especially up at high revs, like you get to hear the boom of each cylinder firing, and nothing else. I've stood right next to them back to back on a dyno. The Akra definitely sounds "better" to me.

Better. Maybe. But not louder. I have Akrapovic evo full on my S1000RR, CBR600RR and BMW M3. All three of these idle considerably louder than stock. The 1199 system does not give me that instant wow this sounds so much better than stock.

When I went from stock to Termi's with the baffles out on the Monster, the difference was HUGE. However, going from stock to Termi's on the 899 is sweeter, however not as drastic. While the Monster is raspy rumble, the Panigale purrs with new found love.

Perhaps it is an issue of expectations vs perceptions or perhaps I am missing the boat on the Akrapovic exhaust on the 1199.

BUT case and point: Someone I recently met at the gym has the F1 with a Yoshi exhaust. I followed him outside to hear him start it and I expected a symphony; all I got was a 5th grade recital.

I am just offering a different perspective other than the OP being hearing impaired or a troll.

Phooey. I'm getting my stockers cored this winter then.

Mid Ohio says nothing about a catch pan anyways on thier website. I'll have to check Nelson Ledges to see if they have a catch pan rule.

Just a quick question, then...

I looked up the OEM stock silencer price in the Ducati parts catalog and the stock replacement cost is $2,600. What does one do if and when they want to sell? I have heard them cored and they sound great, so if you are doing it just for the sound, then it makes perfect sense. However, some folks are trying to save money by avoiding the cost of $2,000 slipons, instead having them cored at < $400. Unless you find a pair that someone is willing to sell you, it will cost you big time in the long run if you want to take it back to stock, lower your trade in value, or delay a sale.

This being said with all due respect to a highly regarded member of this forum, of course.
