Hi, I've got a alarm waiting for me at my dealers and they are saying it takes three hours to install and has to be done by them as they need to plug they bike into the computer to turn it on.

That doesn't sound right to me..

1) three hours sounds like a long time and expensive
2) why would you need it plugged into a computer and if you did they wouldn't supply them from non Ducati dealers.

Has anyone installed one of these?

Cheers

Dealer installed mine free before I picked the bike up. You do have to add a wiring loom but I would think it could be done in under an hour.

When I put my Honda alarm onto my fireblade a few years ago it was just plug and play, can't see why the Panigale alarm would be any different, you cant control it from the dash only the fobs provided.

Don't forget, three hours is the charge out time, the fitting time will be much shorter.

It is standard practice in the automotive industry to have the charge time being much longer than the fitting time. In other words a mechanic will probably work for say 9 hrs a day, but his charge out time may well be 20-30hrs!

Dealer fitted my DP Alarm on the bike and charged me 1.5 hours.

I installed the alarm myself without a problem. The alarm came with everything needed - wiring harness, tie-wraps, alarm module base, and two remotes. Installation does require removal of the left fairing and at least raising the fuel tank. I found it easier also to remove the tail section to route the wiring.

The only problem encountered was the cheap plastic quick disconnect for the fuel tank broke. I ordered a metal replacement online so I was down for a few days, but it is definitely better than the oem part.

I didn't have to reprogram anything except to reset the time on the display.

After having my last 1098 TC stolen, I now have my new TC with alarm, LoJack, and wheel locks. Not taking any chances.

Amen to that!!

Ducx3,

Can you PM concerning your LowJack. I tried two Lowjack dealers and both were unable to install the device and stated that Lowjack do not support the Panigale. Appreciate your experiences via PM.

Thanks.

Im going to install this myself this weekend, any tips out there?

Cheers

p.s. im also going to install the DP tail tidy, that should be pretty straight forward... shouldn't it :)

dealer installed mine - said it would take a while so gave me a loaner that day.

have said this in another post but i have to say the best security feature I have added is a Dowco bike cover with aluminium heat insulation, iot is the Guardian® WeatherAllâ„¢ Plus Motorcycle Cover.

Has insulated aluminium panels at the bottom and I can literally get off the bike (and we all now how hot it can be then) and put the cover right on. Net result is my Panigale looks like any other old bike on the street. I set the alram as well but the cover just makes it blend in

Dealer installed mine free of charge before collection.....it's never worked properly but they're addressing it at the first service booked on monday.

Most annoying thing is the build quality of the fobs......really awful cheap plastic, would have expected something much more classy, maybe rubberised to stop scratching top yolk.

If its anything like honda alarm, its not a Ducati part just rebranded. My Honda Official alarm was a Spyball alarm with a honda screen printed logo on it (although the fobs did have a molded Honda wing, internally they were spyball remote) That maybe why the quality isn't what you expected although I dont have an issue with the fobs, it can be a bit tricky setting the level of sensitivity.

I dont like the idea of having my remote on the key as vibration and weathering could lead to a fail (and scratching the bike of course). I've always used a lanyard and wear it around my neck or you could put it on a separate fob and keep in your jacket pocket.

Yep i tend to keep it in my jacket pocket.....but always seem to be wearing the wrong jacket!

Think you're right on the rebranded fobs, logo is screen printed. But the META fob I had for my old 'Blade had a much higher quality to it.

I suggest replacing the fuel disconnect while yu are at it (or at a later date). I bought a really robust one from motowheels.com for $40 plus shipping. Definitely worth it.

Also, it is easier to route the wires connecting to the module by removing the tail piece.

Last, be ready with the remote when you make the final connection. Mine went off screeching and I had to scramble to pull the connector, then find the remote and do it again after my ears stopped ringing and my heart rate came down below 150. Learn which button turns it off (mine was the A or far left one) before you connect it. I assume it is the same for yours.

Good luck.

I just got mine back from the dealer, he charged me an hour to install. It is really sensitive! I was just wipping a scuff off of the tail piece and it went off. He kept the manual, so other than the op left button turning it off/on, what are the other 2 for?

little one does nothing left = Arm/disarm right = panic alarm
You should get the manual from your dealer as it explains how to adjust the sensitivity and codes

Thanks, will do. They are closed Mondays, or I would go back today. I thought it was like a car alarm, left turned on, right turned off. After several loud set-offs, I figured out left did both! I also had red striping but on the wheels, the only part of the S I prefer to base.
