And here comes the Yamaha R1M...

Riding position is very aggressive compared to the 09. You can definitely feel the 2" extra stretch to the bars over the last years models don't you think?

You can feel it. But it agrees with my long arms lol, Before my arms were cramped, but it doesnt seem it would be uncomfortable at all. It feels amazing. I hope to have a Base R1 to add to the 1199 in the stable. It sounds just like and M1 also,

The Yamaha YZF-R1M in Black ....

Its going to be really tough to wait on for the new Ducati Superbike platform in 2016 (model year) :D

I just saw the black R1 last week and it looked pretty sweet. Only thing I don't like is the metal lunch box visible underneath.

Then on Monday at the track there was an R1M...that looks even better! The instructor that rides it is fughin FAST, no matter what he rides! Unfortunately he low sided it when he cut the corner to tight and lost the front on the curb paint. Amazingly there were only minor cosmetic scrapes and it was back in action the next session. So, I can say it handled the lowside crash well.

Just bought the R1M today... Over the 1199R and 1299S.

rode both, didn't ride an R1...
1199R felt great, loved the 'R' story, but it was an older model
1299S was amazing. felt better, WAY more torque. tech/nannies are way better.
for close to the same price it's a tough choice. I think I'd choose the 1299S but want to wait till the new R is avil.

Till then, the R1M was the last one around and I'm sure I can always get rid of it. This is my first superbike and the R1M nannies are amazing and should help keep me safer... but I've been riding Dirt for a long time and street a KTM SM and Hyper SP so I really wanted a Ducati... hope I'm going to be happy with my decision. I pick up the R1M next week.

Saw one last weekend at the track. Walked past it three times without even noticing it. Had a mate say to me later on "have you seen the R1M? - up there, past garage 23"

I had honestly been walking past it for 20mins without it standing out among a garage of only 3 - RR and a GSXR1000 race rep.
I did walk back to take a look at it, after it had been pointed out to me. I must admit, very unflattering in the flesh. Really didnt grab me at all.

There were 4 or 5 of them at Tally yesterday. I think one of them raced in Senior SB. Tally is not a track that you can stretch you legs. He couldnt get away from one of the GSXR 1000s. Not sure how he did, but it sounded pretty cool. Cant wait to race against one or see one in advanced at a track day, but I'm not sure how many novice racers will be racing one.

I'm not sure it's faster all out. Especially against the 1299 I rode. The 1299 has probably 50% more tq. It was amazing. BUT, as a new track rider, the R1M tech and nannies seem to be the best out there. I'm still missing having another Duc but I think this will be a great learner bike preventing me from making rookie mistakes until I get a new S or R.

I track a new GT3 Porsche as well but it's not my first track car. Looking at the RM1 under the same philosophy...

I'm sure it's a great bike, but in a year or so it's just another Japanese 4 with more power and electronics

I hate to say it, but they're all just "another _____ insert model" bike in a year or so. It's human nature to get bored and looking for what's next. Look at the current Panigale. First the R, then the SL, now the 1299 and the "new R". They come and go and the next best thing is always around the corner.

Everything new always seems like the best bike you ever had until the next one comes along.

i dont know why all they hype around this bike. IMO its one of the ugliest i have seen in years, those headlights, the mirrors massive nose cone opening nearhandlebars/windscreen, just doesnt do it for me.

I can easily count on one hand the number of Panigales I've seen on the road in the last few years around here - they are exclusive bikes

Exclusive? Definitely wouldn't call it that. Certainly depends on your place of residence.

Not in Los Angeles at the Rockstore or on the Snake... But supercars are the norm around those parts as well....

Right - in LA Porsche Caymans are grocery getters. Wait until they see their water bill in a few years

2015 R1 is definitely a bad-... bike on paper. It will be better next year with a quick-downshift, among other things.

It's crazy how the R1 skipped SBK and went straight to MotoGP technology, so in that regard, it is ahead among the rest of the literbikes. I'd buy one but I know I'll end up trading it in for a 2016 R1. The 1299 is at the top level development of the Panigale, less the R.
