Another can't find Neutral problem

What engine oil are you guys using? Any chance that would affect finding N?

Not necessarily.
And quite unlikely.
But still a remote possibility:(

I had this same issue at one point but got on top of it quickly and simply by myself.
Absolutely no problems now with any part of the operation of my machine.

Perfection Italian style:D

I have a problem with the dash not able to display neutral. But mechanically, i can get into neutral fine. The dealer did reprogram the gear sensor, things are better now. Still kind of hit and miss.

seriously, i first start the bike up and when i tap up from first it goes to second, and a half tap down from second goes to first, it completely skips neutral. after the bikes warmed up it works just fine.

i had the same issue - it is now fixed - unfortunately i cannot tell you exactly what they adjusted, but while i had it in for service the shop told me there is an adjustment/tightening up of a sensor on the shift linkage (somewhere, inside?) -he did it, and the shifter no longer skips neutral (mine would also find neutral and will display 1 or 2 on the screen)....it now does what it is supposed to do

-- on a different topic, they also reset the TPS, and a/f settings, which seemingly (i've only ridden it home from the shop) vastly improved/eliminated the surging from 3 to 5 rpm's - i was happily impressed :) -- they installed a mwr filter as well...so far...i like it

I have this problem sometimes but its been getting better. I noticed that when I am in uniform (USAF) it is even harder to find it. My dash gets confused from now and then too. Also I been noticing that when I quick shift from 1st to second it goes into neutral instead, but perhaps that is my fault not lifting hard enough.

certainly have your shop take a look - should be a simple fix

It all sounds like something out of alignment/ adjustment when neutral cannot be found. I'd take it to dealer and request they tune the shifting system. Either its out of adjustment from factory, or aggressive shifting or missed shifting can jack your clutch system up. JMO

Just an update. So apparently the dealer changed out the slave and master cylinders, and still that didn't help. Bike is getting a full engine tear down now to inspect the transmission.

FML the good thing is they will be doing my 24 k service a bit early since everything is apart all under warranty.

yikes....sounds a bit extreme...my 1199r only required an adjustment to fix the problem

There'll be no problem if there's no money in it.

Just close the account.
Problem solved:eek:

....what would you like t know....your best bet is to get it to your dealer - i honestly don't recall the details very well....they ended up replacing a part or 2 and adjusting the sensitivity level of the shifter (if there is an adjustment for it)
