Another Rossi helmet

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

i must say, some of the details in the helmet are a bit dick. the little fluoro bits that yell:

"vision +15%"

"lift -44%"

"airflow +193%"

"enhanced comfort"

it's like "these are changes against what benchmark!? if you are really so proud of your design improvements you wouldn't be shouting them from the helmet. all this does is make me think all your previous helmets must have been rubbish (which i doubt) if this one is so good. or this helmet isn't that special and needs the graphics in order to sell (which i also doubt). you don't see ducati painting power to weight ratios on their bikes. if it's really that good, save it for the marketing material."

but hey, they're small.

and i am a sucker ...

yep. the black/yellow combo. i have a jacket that will look just fine methinks. i am not normally given to matching livery. a little over the top for my taste. but i will might an exception in this case!

i don't mind the fluoro elements - besides the fact i like the design, they definitely make you more visible to others. safety, that's how i explain to my lady, you can't scrimp on safety, luv.

hahah... good argument of selling this to your girl :)

I received my pistaGP

Today I received my new AGV Valentino Rossi PistaGP I ordered at Champion Helmets!! It is quite a piece... As promised, here are some pics

The thing you immediately notice is the how light the helmet is. Much lighter then my current Doohan Arai replica. The carbon is really cool, reptile like.
Although the icon may look a bit fanboy-like on the picture, in reallife they look nice.

Concluding: a kick ass helmet that is worth its money. If anyone has a question about it, let me know

Is that a removable plastic protector over it? Surely, it doesn't come with all of those spec stickers...

Nice lid, Are the stickers removable, or are they under the clear coat?

Vale with his favorite lid...just like the one I've got ;-)

The fluo icons aren ´t removable, they indeed are under the coat - upon the carbon layer. I find the icons to balance the black yellow design nicely

DOT rated means the helmet met the safety requirements of the Department of Transportation. Nothing more, Europe has a different rating from the US but it doesnt mean that the US helmets are safer, the way of testing is just different that is all. The ECE 22.05 standard is used in over 50 European countries, including Germany, a country known for thorough testing its goods and taking a hard line on personal protection.

I have been told that this difference in testing (DOT and ECE22.05) holds New european helmets such as the AGV Pistagp back from entering the US marketing 6 - 8 months later. Eventually after being tested the DOT way the pistagp will appear in an identical design, shape and quality on the US market only 6 - 8 months later. Who are we kidding? I find it way overrated...

Here is a map I came across on the web showing the countries the PistagP is certified for (came from the AGV website)

do you think it is as good or should i wait

If countries like the UK, germany, holland, Sweden, Australia, tested it and they certified it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I already have the helmet, it is a great piece. If you would like to have it - and have the money for it - dont waste your time waiting 6 / 8 months waiting for the exact same helmet.

Anyone in Australia seen the ADR compliant version for sale here in Oz? Unfortunately the law requires us to have a helmet that has an ADR compliance sticker!
