Another Rossi helmet

I called and emailed these guys (Champion Helmets). They said it is likely going to be the exposed carbon fiber design. They have a meeting with AGV on Tuesday and will be able to give final details on the design, price, and ship date of the helmet. So I'm going to call them back on Wednesday to confirm everything and order one then if everything checks out.

As a plus, no VAT for USA, and shipping is free also.

Please report on what you hear from them. Us aussies here don't get anything unless it's gone out of fashion everywhere else.

No problem Nick. My (42nd, ugh) birthday is coming, so I've convinced the 'ole ball and chain (joking) that would be a good gift she could get me.

No .... !! Hhaaha that what I told my wife last night. I said to her (she knows nothing about bikes) that this would be a good present for me on my next bday.

I think I will buy the helmet when it is released in the USA. I don't want to get gripped for a full non compliant exhaust and helmet, etc ;-)

? It won't have the DOT sticker or something?

AGV will have to go through the normal US DOT process to get the new helmet approved (hence why it will be released in the USA later on). Thus, if you pre-order it off the web or order the euro version you can not *legally* use it in the states. Hence, this is why I will wait for AGV to release it in the USA.

I also like to try a helmet on before I purchase it.

just put down my deposit, cant wait!!!!!!!!!!! came out to like $101.10 usd

Love it!!!!!!

I would be interested to know what the final price works out at. I am not sure I believe the Euro 850 number; that is about the cost of the top AGV in the UK at the moment. From what I have read this one will be a real eye opener in price terms.

I still would like one and at Euro 850 it makes sense, above Euro 1,000 and it is just becoming silly.

I see. The only place I've been checked for the sticker was the MSF course (I haven't done a track day yet). You make a good point though, and it is certainly something to consider. I do have my Shoei X-11 if need be for a track day or MSF (I have to do an MSF course every 3 years while I'm in the service). And I agree with you about trying it on first too, that's a lot of money for something that could potentially not fit right. I frick'in love this helmet though and will probably order it if it turns out to be the exposed carbon design. When I spoke with Champion Helmets, they seemed to be accommodating. So I think they would return if it really fits awful.

So, It's a deposit with no idea what the final price is? I love it but damn. I am in the wrong business lol

I thought the same thing. I honestly thought the price point would come in at the >$3,000 level (I used the price of the carbon Arai as a benchmark). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the "expected" price is correct. If everything the website says about having direct relationships with the manufacturers is true, we could be in luck. We should find out Wednesday when I call them back. I'll report post haste on what they say.

Nice. If they get word to you first, I won't have to call them back. Although it was easy to get a hold of them, and they spoke perfect english.

I plan on getting the helmet when it is DOT approved in the USA. I know the Dainese store in San Francisco will get it in stock and as Dainese OWN AGV, they will have it before anyone else, also I will be able to try it on in person. I Don't really care about being first, I reserve the right to be first when it relates to competition or making money ;-)

I can't wait to check that store out when I'm in the city again (I usually visit SF about once a year, got a few really good friends there), sometime in Aug or Sep.

The Arai Carbon is one bad ass lid. 2012 Corsair V RACE CARBON
I have always used Arai. I would like to try something different.

Last time I checked, DOT approval was just the manufacturerswearing he made his helmet DOT compliant. Has it changed?
ANyway, I plan on trying it when it is released by there, so I'll write you a review.

Arai helmets are the standard. I still have a Kevin Schwantz replica (ha!) from my early days on 600 sized machines.

I'm wondering if the "expected" price on Champion Helmets website might be for a fiberglass composite version of the PistaGP. And the carbon version will cost a lot, lot more.

So I called this place again (Champion Helmets). Good news and bad.

Bad:

The helmet is not going to be released until February!!!? Quite a bit different than what was posted on the Champion website (July-August). Although I doubt many on this forum are shocked that an Italian company is, shall we say, lackadaisical about getting the newest hot .... to market.

Good-bad:

The price is going to come in a little higher than what was listed (I think about 100 Euro more, can't remember exactly now as I spoke with them this morning). However, there is a catch here. If you pre-order on the website before they update the price, you will get the listed price as it stands. So if you are on the fence . . .

Good (in my opinion):

The design is going to mimic the one displayed on the website, the exposed carbon fiber job with the yellow stickers.

BTW, these guys (Champion Helmets) are good at customer service if you ever need to talk to them.

I am ordering this thing right now to get the lower price.
