I'm currently looking for a second bike, more of a middle weight. Just wondering if anyone has had and owned an MV and what they are like to live with?

I'm looking at the new MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR

I'll be picking up the new Dragster RC as soon as I check it out in person once it is released. Always loved the styling of the dragster but the RC color scheme really has done it for me. I'm as good as sold, regardless of the lack of dealer network/support.

Yeah, same in the UK. No official dealer so to speak so I'm a little off'ish. I asked a so called dealer about them he said "Yeah, I can get you one" I was like "What? I don't want you to get me one. I can go f*cking GET ONE!" I want the whole package. It's the only thing stopping me really other than a test ride.

But this thing looks great, 140 bhp so not over the top and as a second bike I would be well happy and and not overly distraught should it have gremlins as I have a back up.

I'm lucky enough to have a couple of somewhat local dealers as options but even still....the network and parts availability isn't that great but I don't care. I'll still get one. I probably wouldn't feel that way if it was my only bike though.

There is a member here with Brutale but can't remember his name. I remember him really liking it.

I actually like their Brutale more than their Superbike and looks better than a Monster.

Same here.

Their superbike seems to be trailing well behind any Panigale and so heavy. I have looked at the monster but to me it seems a little plain these days, a bit dated. The Brutale though, that's really ticking some boxes for me.

Where abouts in the UK are you fella? There is still a small network, but nowt north of
Leeds by the looks of it.
Dealer MV Agusta | MV Agusta

I've dropped a mate a line on FB, to see who supplied his last MV and how they perform
as a whole for back up. Will let you know what he comes back with.

There are a couple near me, I live near Norwich in Norfolk. But one of them is the guy who said "I can get you one". They are like tin sheds on industrial estates. They don't inspire me with any confidence whatsoever

Bummer. Both the dealers that I had experience with before leaving the UK seem to
have dropped MV now. Cobb and Jagger in Shipley had them for many years but
have switched now.
Will let you know what my mate comes back with. It may be worh a couple of hours journey
to get the right overall package.

Ok,
so the dealer network is a bit spartan at the moment, but the two places my mate
would recommend for new purchase and back up would be Bennets in Barnsley and
MotaCorse in Salisbury. Neither of those would be great for your location but once the first service
is out of the way, its only once a year unless you have any issues. He says both have
good reputations on the MV forums.

It also may be worth waiting till the spring as MV are in major difficulties at the minute
but could have a new lifeline, which depending on the cash, may influence the distribution
network going forward.
From Russia with Love, MV Agusta Finds New Money

Pre 1999: Like all old bikes. You spend more time in fixing and find replacement parts. But its fun and somehow cool.

Post 1999 Pre-2009 MVs (F4 and Brutales): Easy to maintain, spectacular support on international forum. Mechanics is perfect and amazing.

Post 2009: More and more problems especially with electronics, but manageble.
F3: Okay mechanics (Engine great), .... electronics. A complete change in philosophy to make things cheap in production.

If you like to do the work yourself and your patient if it comes to wait for ordered parts, go for MV. Otherwise it's going to be a bit of a dissapointment (depends on how lucky you are whether Giovanni was allowed to take Maria on Sunday before he went to the plant on Monday)...

Buddy of mine had a F3 800 and really liked it.

That said, isn't MV in a reasonably significant financial mess right now? Do you really want to hop on board with the Italian version of EBR?

I had a 750, fantastic bike, a l bit small and cramped though, blew its nut off by over revving though, very expensive!

Not sure on the Brutale but i rode an F3 800 and it was quite amazing. Handles quicker than my 959 and the motor was silky smooth with enough power to make you smile.

not a good time to buy a MV Agusta company has a lot problems now no money no parts, I own a 2012 F4R and 2010 brutally 1090rr, both beautiful bike attention to detail second not none, the 4cly engine it feel faster than my panigale and i can push the bike more than the panigale, yes is heavy than the panigale but it really don't make that much different like I said the company have problem but the bike is by far better than my mts1200 or my 1199 is just my opinion.

Yeah, started to do some digging. MV is in trouble with the law over it's finances however, it has just got a cash boost from a Russian investment firm......... Think I will have to wait a little while before I part with any cash.

Shame too as I really like the look of it....

wow. that sucks.

its lose lose situation as dont support the company...employees are out of job anyway.:(

The employees unfortunately seem to lose their jobs every 5-7 years as it is... Castiglioni family sells company on the cheap in order to have all the debt they've racked up zeroed out, then they get together with their banker buddies and buy it back and start using the company like their personal bank account once again.

Aside from their impending and on-going financial issues, I have not had any issues with mine.

I have a 2015 Dragster RR. Fantastic bike and built well, no issues at this point, but as others have pointed out, dealer support is a bit spotty.

I would have not bought this bike if it was my daily driver/only bike, but nonetheless, I really like it. I also have a very good support from my dealer, so this had an impact, as well.

The FM Exhaust is UNGODLY loud on my bike and is only a slip on.

I recommend for a second bike.
