Anyone else get bruises from the rear suspension?

My parking spot in a garage is on a sideways hill, so I have to back out when I leave. When I am walking the bike backwards the back of my left thigh hits where the wires come out of the rear suspension. Its always been uncomfortable but I noticed today that I have a massive 4-6" diameter bruise from it.

Is there a shield or something I could put over that? Or should I just get used to pulling it out by the handlebars off the bike? If it matters I am 5'9".

You could take arnica supplements. Arnica montana, or leopard's bane, helps to prevent bruising and can be found in most drugstores.

Maybe some acetaminophen, don't use NSAID's they thin the blood. You should stop with your Midol intake.

Maybe sell the bike.

Move to Texas with no hills ?

Wrap your thigh in ace bandages before you mount the bike.

Get a large ladder ?

Hire someone to back the bike up ?

Ask Gunny, check out his cover on the rear shock

Transdesigner I'm sitting on the bike. I said in the first post that I guess I could get used to standing while pushing the bike out of parking. NOLA, I'm already in the land of no hills. I"ll PM Gunny about the cover. :)

I'm 5'7" so I pretty much can't back up the bike sitting on it. Why not just get off the bike and push it back? A lot cheaper than buying a cover.

Ouch
Functionality over looks? I don't think it looks bad. The bike is now German at least for the 2013 and above:p

We can agree to disagree. I think the shock looks great on its own and this just covers it up with a bunch of carbon fiber.

^ this is one of 2 major gripes I had with the S, hence why I purchased the base... and im 6'0

Wow you guys are pretty defensive. I was just asking for some advice. Appreciate everyone who took the time to do so.

fireman: Yes, it's absolutely an awesome bike.

lex2go: I will probably do that. I was hoping I was missing something obvious and was curious if it happened to anyone else.

IS this a joke ? You are in the "land of no hills" but you are parked on a sideways hill ?

So you buy the cover and now you bang your thigh on the cover when you back it up instead of the shock ??? Whats the difference ? I am relatively sure they don't make a padded cover version.

We aren't pretty defensive, its just humorous that you posted about your "bruised" thigh. So buy a box of straws and suck it up. Jeez.

I'm parked in a reserved spot in a parking garage that is on an incline.

And yes I think bumping into a cover instead of two protruding objects would be less likely to bruise.

Sorry I asked something that could be remotely construed as negative Nova, keep up the good work defending the hive.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Keep in mind the cover actually makes the protrusion a BIGGER target for you to hit your leg on...
