Anyone else get bruises from the rear suspension?

I'm parked in a reserved spot in a parking garage that is on an incline.

And yes I think bumping into a cover instead of two protruding objects would be less likely to bruise.

Sorry I asked something that could be remotely construed as negative Nova, keep up the good work defending the hive.

Just leave it out on the street. No one would steal it !

Hey, no problem, I am here to help !!

Remember the arnica supplements ! Maybe some Vitamin C too...

Wait a minute, are you getting a kickback on these supplements? :D

Oh grown men don't get bruises? Are women allowed to ride Ducatis, too?

I think the point is grown men don't complain about bruises on a pulbic forum... hence the "harden the .... up!" video that was posted earlier... And I've yet to hear a single Ducati rider, male or female, complain about this "issue".

Can you elaborate on which part was the complaining? I was under the impression this was a discussion forum. Maybe I'll find one that isn't filled with a bunch of primadonna douches like yourself.

I think there were some post last year about some people had the suspension digging into their thighs and others ripping the pigtails off while riding.

This thread is awesome on so many levels.

Trashcan, don't take it personal, most everyone is just giving you a little ..... Even if my mother asked me the same question I'd give her grief....but I still love her.

Trying to be helpful, I highly doubt that guard will help you much....perhaps slightly if your leg slides over it vs bang against the wires. But unless your bike has been done up like Gunny's, and nobody's bike's been done up like Gunny's, it would be an odd looking mod on its own.

I'd rather just back it up a little more bowlegged.

Agreed!!!!

OP, we're just giving you a hard time because its Friday!!!!

My parking spot in a garage is on a sideways hill, so I have to back out when I leave. When I am walking the bike backwards the back of my left thigh hits where the wires come out of the rear suspension. Its always been uncomfortable but I noticed today that I have a massive 4-6" diameter bruise from it.

Is there a shield or something I could put over that? Or should I just get used to pulling it out by the handlebars off the bike? If it matters I am 5'9".

trashcan
really cannot believe you asked a question like this and then are surprised when a few of the guys give you a hard time

people really need to work out this basic .... themselves instead of asking how to live on a forum

welcome to the forum, where you will need a thick skin to survive or just harden up

Just ride in full race leathers everywhere (lol just not to Starbuck's) and you won't notice the suspension wires except at a stop, and just barely.

you picked the base based on the fact you might hurt your leg on the shock

wow

Why is that a "wow"? there were 2 complaints I had with the 1199/s model... 1. hard seat and 2. the rear strut protrusions dug into my left leg at every stop light.

Issue 1 is easily remedied, issue 2 not so much.

So, your a chick named trashcan from TX ?

Please no picks of the bruise :D

........, I wanna see it...post this massive contusion on here.

And don't forget, if you want to sell the bruise you have to include your name on a little piece of paper next to it. It prevents the scammers from selling your bruise on other Ducati boards with similar shock bruises stories.

NOLA, I'm already in the land of no hills. I"ll PM Gunny about the cover. :)

I'm still looking for some kind of clarification on this comment. Unless you confine your riding to superstore parking lots or Starbucks and back, you can't miss the hilly terrain in and around Austin. The Texas Hill Country extends into the western half of Travis County and spans 25 counties. I was just in that area a few weeks ago; absolutely gorgeous motorcycle roads out that way.
