I also own both bikes....my s1000rr is a 2010 with 10k miles. My panigale is a 12. Like a few have said, they are two different animals. I love both bikes and don't think that I could give either one of them up for nothing.
Don't really understand why so many people bash the s1000rr!!! It IS an awesome bike that the panigale is often put up against.
The panigale is also a very sexy bike. I could just sit and look at it all day long but I would rather ride it!!!
BOTH awesome bikes!!!
BOTH bikes with a lot of character!!!
I am very fortunate to be able to enjoy both bikes!

Which do you feel has better low and mid range power?

I don't own a s1000rr but a friend of mine has one that he let me ride all the time. Before the Panigale came out I would ride the BMW and think its fast it smooth it was an amazing machine, I wanted one but I never got rid of my old bike for it, like I said an amazing machine just seemed like there was something missing. I would get off that bike knowing that it was fast and that I could be very fast and smooth on it but it didn't get my blood flowing, just something missing.
When the Panigale came out just seeing the pictures you were drawn to it, the first time I saw it at the IMS show you couldn't help buy look at it, yet I waited I wanted it but I waited. When the dealer finally got a demo I kicked a leg over it and boom..... I was sold. It may not be the smoothest machine or the fastest, which I maintain is mostly the rider, but it gets your blood pumping, it has that raw race bike feel, you know it's something special. After that ride my old bike was gone and a unpaiently waited for the arrival of my 1199.

Ya I know that kinda runs on but isn't it that passion that raw race bike feel that draws us toward it? It may not be the perfect bike for some and it may have it's flaws but really I think that makes me love it more. Nothing against the S1000rr but that my 2 cents

I just sold my S1000RR after nearly 3 years and 17,000 K's, and I won't say a bad word about it. I brought the first one registered in NSW so I was hit with the early anti BMW crap, funny how that has changed after 3 years. It mainly came from the Japanese riders jealousy brigade.

Once I got the Pani (again first one registered in this state) I just didn't ride the Beemer much.

I feel the Pani has ample low end and mid range ( especially with the 41t sprocket ) and I actually enjoy riding it to my favourite roads. I have a nice wet mode setting for commuting which is nice, the Beemer in wet mode was awful. And there is no comparison when it comes to the sound and whole riding experience, I love it.

Don't believe all he crap being written, this is still a highly tuned 1200 twin, it has ample mid range.

I"m not here to berate any other bikes let alone the beemer. I"ve been in the auto trade for 30+ years and I know BMW know how to make an engine. So I wasn"t surprised when it became the most powerful road bike out there as I knew what kind of internal tech it was harbouring after working on the road cars. Anyway I digress, the main thing i would like to add from my experience with my Pani is there aint no other bike in the world like it. You dont take a Pani out for a ride you go out together, just like mates hitting the town friday night. The Pani talks to you when your out together, its an indescribable experience to someone that hasn"t felt it. Any one else agree?,the noises it makes, the sensations it garners, its got life,it aint just another machine. Am I away with the fairies, looking through rose tinted specs, mad, stupid,or a hopeless romantic??? or do my words make sense to any other owners???

+1 brother....Everytime I take mine out it's an integration of mind body and soul between my Pani and myself. I even named her "Imelda" because of it. This is one bike that just knows how to evoke your every sense. It's truly one of the greatest motorcycles of all time. Nothing else like it in the world.

WTF? Did you buy her a garage-full of different wheels and tires for every occasion?

Hehe, maybe this is too much of an inside Filipino joke...
