Tank bag for two to three days, add a tail bag for longer (if you are I a cold climate may be harder because of bulk but should still be OK. Tank bag and tail fit nicely, make sure you take the stiff carcass out of the tank bag. Tank bag also give you the clear window for maps, phone etc. the Tail bag was big enough for me to carry a 5 litre fuel container to the track plus towel, hat etc.

I'm really please with the quality of the Ducati tank & tail bags. My only issue is the strap on the tail bag that goes under the seat fixing is frayed at one end and getting messy.

Backpacks are restrictive and add weight to your body which is tiring, regardless of how good it is. Have two back packs and only use them on very short trips where things are too big for tail bag (shape is a bit restrictive). Hate em.

HAHAHAHAA so i take it you guys that saw the HUGE back pack racks weren't interested?? it can contain all your stuff for your long trips!!

A trick I learned on business travel, don't overlook the ability to ship stuff to your location and ship it back.

And I clicked backpack before reading. I do wear a backpack, but for long ride, I think I'd be going for some Kriega combination of tail packs.

Sending stuff to myself did cross my mind...good idea!

Do you put the passenger seat on when you use the DP tail bag?

Thanks for your input and comments on the DP tank and tail bags.

Actuallly no I don't. Keep forgetting but the tank bag does t seem to have had any negative effects.

HOWEVER - I haven't done a long journey with it, when potentially more grit etc could get under the bag while riding. It would be a very sensible move to put the passenger seat on for trips.

Im in the process of planning a 1000mile round trip to the Assen gp in June this year, its a 4 day run ( 500 mile there 2 days at curcuit 500mile back). ive looked at the oxford x30 tank bag and the alpinestars tech aero. i dont fancy doing the whole 1000mile with a rucksack on my back.
I,l be spending the next few months trying to test which tank bag is the best.

Funny how it seems that the tank bag option looks like it got the thumbs up with comments over the back pack but the back pack is winning the poll...
