He might be referring to the crank case breather valve recall.
I have the PDF replacement instructions but they are too large to post here. I can email them though.

Back to the original question you will be happier with the purchase of the R the Beemer is a soulless boring inline 4 both bike are way beyond what most riders could ever explore. As for advice on this forum there are a few experts who express an uneducated opinion rather than facts. Congrats on the new bike and enjoy it.

unless you're a racer, i'd get the bike you lust over... if not you're constantly going to be second guessing yourself. In 2019 i told myself I was going to get a V4R... instead i got an S and I still have not been able to shake the want. The S exceeds my capabilities by a mile, but that's not why I got it...

Also, i think I'm different from most in that i feel guilty if I have multiple bikes... like I do. Think it has to do w my dad splurging when I was a kid. If you don't have that issue... multiple bikes is the answer.

The bmw has a long way to come for me to lust over it.
put the bikes side by side, the difference is clear, the Ducati is a proper superbike 5 years ahead of S1000RR.
As it turns out I’m not excited for M1000RR either. Maybe in a few years

I haven’t. What would I find if I did?
That was in response to what Phl said

What you would find is that the bore is very large and that the skirt is very short

I don’t know about anyone else but I do not need a forum to understand piston rock and ring wear

You get one of these pistons in yer hands you aren’t gonna want it to only have one ring

Well, as an engineer you design anything that moves inside a bore with a length 2x the diameter to make it work over lifetime.

unless you’re DaVinci. Then you can get away with calling it art
