1299 with 1100 miles on it.
When cruising at my normal 3500-4500rpm every 4-5 miles the bike would cut out for a split second. After 3 times it sets off the engine light and the sport mode blinks on the screen.
Before this on the last few cold starts the bike would start, idle for a good 30-50 seconds and then stall. Randomly.
I'm thinking possibly the quick shift cut out switch going faulty? It acts like the cutout while shifting.

Just looking for some ideas before it going to the dealer. My local dealer is horrible.

2 questions..

1. had you just filled up the gas tank?

2. does the screen black out all the way at all when this happens or in between it?

This is the 2nd tank of gas it has done it with.
Didn't look at the screen when happened. It is just random.
I have checked the battery terminals which are tight. Probably should of opened tank to see if pressurized.

Mods are termi slip ons, filter and tied flapper valve open. Charcoal can removed and lines vented under bike. All that was done 800 miles ago with no issues.

Get used to it.. You must have got one that acts up like mine does... It eventually gets better but mine did it for a long time..
(It still does it once in a while and it has been over a year)
Dealer couldn't figure it out either..Mine had been in the shop at least 15 times in the last year.. Various ruing issues... I added a Rapid Bike Racing unit,(which helped the low end throttle issues immensely...) Akropovic (Ducati branded) slip on's with the Racing Evo map and a Sprint air filter and it runs much better that stock but still dies once in a while.. (usually just after I cranked it up and an leaving a parking lot in front people) and it will suddenly just stall... Makes you look like a fool..
I think it has to do with the fact it has a relatively light flywheel and just loses engine vacum from time to time. That is probably why they set the idle at 1700 to 1800 RPM.

Just part of the fun and excitement of owning a Ducati Panigale 1200 S.. IT is a beautiful but very finicky ........

Try doing this. Turn off quick shift and let us know if it does it again. I know mine stopped after disabling and when I turned it back on it began dying again. Totally weird..

Thanks. My plan is to go over the bike, connections ect. Makes sure nothing loosened up. Then ride with qs off. It feels just like qs cutting in but I know my foot isn't touching the shifter.

I'll do a few things. If it still happens or I find the answer, then it will go to the dealer to be fixed.

As for your problems speedy. I would never settle for what you deal with. I'll give them the chance when needed. If it ends up a permanent problem which I doubt it will. I'll get my money back on the bike and buy another brand.

Good luck getting your money back LOL

NO dealer will give you our money back.. The factory will always put the fault on the dealer service etc...

I am about to get a new 2016 ZX10r for the track.. A track buddy of mine just got one and he said it handles awesome and will run off and leave his Ducati and his 2015 R1...! It will no doubt be faster and much more trouble free compared to the Panigale... Just get the ECU flashed Add a good pipe to get rid of the Cats and you are good to go...

**.. I love riding the Duck but it is just not as competitive as the Jap 4 cylinders and it cost waay more to modify ie; Exhaust alone can run over $4k ( THe Ducati Akropovic Slip on's with the UP Map was 3800!...

If the thing falls over in a parking lot on the left side it can be $5k or more to fix.. I have stayed off the Ducati site for a while now because all I get is smart ... remarks from some of those out there..

I am going to keep the Duc because evidently the dealer and the factory Rep cannot fix it right and no one that rode it would want it the way it rides right now.... (It stutters like it is miss firing in the lower rpm's on and off when you try to hold the throttle steady at 10% or less (right in the cruising range in any gear) So far in the last year after countless trips to the dealer It has had the ECU, Throttle body, and throttle assemble replaced and the settings changed on the throttle position sensor etc adjusted It NEVER has any codes showing up on the dealers computer! Very aggravating and evidently I just ended up with a lemon and will not ever get it running right and will just have to put up with it.. Its beautiful to look at but a total pain in the .....

Oh I also had to have the water pump replaced While they were in there I had the dealer replace the hoses with Red Samco hoses as well as degree the Cams.. It would be a bad ... bike if I could ever get it to run right...:(

Oh well life is short... Enjoy what you have left.. its just stuff.... I always wanted a Ducati It is just too bad I got a bad one.. It is probably something very simple in the wiring etc but fortune has been spent trying to find the problem and so far to no avail..

Take care

Lawyer and lemon law are your friends. But if I read right you modded a bit and then brought in for issue's.

I'll test a few things and hopefully narrow it down. The engine light helps but not much since I can not read it myself.

Went over the bike today. Checked all wiring ect. Only possible issue I found was the battery terminals were not very tight from the dealer installing the charger cable's. I cleaned those up and tightened. Bike does crank faster now.

So, tomorrow I'll take it out and if it does it again I'll shut off the DS and see if it cures it.

I modded it first at first just trying to get it to work right to begin with.. (That was about $3600.00) I stepped out and bought the official "Ducati factory" exhaust with "Up Map" to hopefully get it to run right. All to no avail..

No mods will make mine run right.. *The Rapid Bike Racing unit helped it run stronger and did smooth it out in upper ranges after it gets going and it did clear out some of the rough running (and it has a lot more power once it gets spun up past 6K to 7K up (or up past the 10 to 12 % throttle) but just cruising down the road (below the 12 % throttle level it surges and acts like it is being hit by a 35mph gust of wind on and off every second or so... (all the time no matter what gear it is in) Finally after about 6 months of bringing it in and the dealer replacing the ECU and throttle bodies etc It got the problem with the throttle sticking at 3K for a second or so while
de accelerating into a turn etc fixed.. (They had to reprogram the TC unit etc)

NOW THIS  I get one thing sorted out and it starts up with another one.. It still has some gremlin in it that just wont let it run smooth like my friend's 1299 S (or any other Panigale demo etc. I have ridden).

BTW regarding the mods.. ** I disconnected the Rapid Bike unit the other day and it still ran like crap so the Rapid bike is NOT the culprit.. I did notice it was measurably slower without the Rapid Bike unit installed once I got on the throttle hard.. It just did not pull nearly as well... Seemed slower.

Yaman at Rapid Bike US..has been reprogramming it and adjusting the map for me etc. He is a great guy and really tries his best to help..But this is not a RapidBike problem..
This is a Ducati 1299 S problem....
As far as the remark about me leaving the site...Yeah. I went on vacation and had a great time.. I have more or less stopped posting on this site Just browsing occasionally .. (it is just that this poor guys problems sounds similar to my past issues)..

In the end they are just machines and they all are a little different. I just got a crappy one.. The problem is, It doesn't present anything tangible that a dealers mechanic can put his finger on.
I am waiting for the damn thing to actually break so they can determine the actual cause of the problem
(or at least throw a code that the dealer could use to investigate the problem) Therefore, I just have to put up with it until something drastic changes and it either gets better on its own (highly unlikely) or it goes ahead an breaks (hopefully while it is still in warranty) so they can finally tell what the hell is wrong with it.. I am tired of screwing with it.. Who knows maybe someday I will be riding it and it will hit a bump etc and or giggle something and fix itself.. LOL

I am thinking about just dropping it off at the dealer and tell them to do whatever they have to and call me when it is fixed.. Let THEM sort it out and store it in their garage and jack with it,, To their defense, they have done everything they can and really worked hard to fix it but at this point I don't know what anyone can do..
I certainly hope you get yours to start running right I know how aggravating and upsetting it is to have a bike you paid $25K Plus for and it stalls on you in traffic or in front of others and you look like an ..... that does not know how to ride

Good luck to you man..

Shut off QS and TCS. Did 24 miles and no issues at all. So I'll test with TCS back on for a while. Looks like it could of been the loose battery or I think the QS. Will update as I have time to ride.

That is a good sign! Sounds like yours is a simple issue.. I have turned everything off on my several times no difference.. I have some sort of loose connection probably in the wiring harness etcs. Just about everything else has been changed out LOL

I am glad that is all it is with your bike.. keep us posted :)

This happened to me on my bike with the RB quickshifter and after I had it replaced.. it worked fine...

I never could get my bike to run right, neither could anyone else. I had issues similar to speedy. Yes it cost 25K but I got rid of mine, it's just a machine.

Sometimes it's the mechanic and sometimes it's the bike. Try letting the dealer sort it out before getting too anxious about it.

Haven't had a chance to ride it since the last update. I will this weekend. Then see what I got.

Well, put a good 90 miles on it with a good amount of cruising and some hard riding. No problems or cutting out at all. Then switched the QS on for 20 miles, still no issue yet.

Starting to think maybe the loose battery cables were the issue. Has not stalled once, even cold start, warm up idling which it would stall sometimes.

Will put at least 100 more miles on it. I have tune boy and rapid bike here just waiting to clean this thing up.

That would be good. I'll do another 100 miles. If all good, time to add some stuff finally.

Lean spot's have to go..

Did roughly 200 miles total. No issues even with QS back on. Must of been battery connections.

Today I installed the Rapid Bike race setup. Talked to yamen on a few questions which he was very helpful. Job took about 2 hours and fit very nice. Got it all in for a factory look.
Bike is now a lot smoother. Definitely taking out the lean spots. I'm a 3-4K rpm cruiser and it's a lot better. Will be out soon on my favorite roads soon to see how it does. Still got 1/4" of rear tire/sides not worn yet.
