Bike won’t shift below 3rd and above 4th

Need some advice I’ve been searching high and low and am unable to pin point what the issue is.

I took the bike for a ride for an hour and when attempted to shift down from 3rd it felt like rock bottom. No play whatsoever. I was able to shift up on the way home to 5th, and when I attempted to shift down I was unable to.

Please advise

Check and see if the linkage from the shifter to the transmission isn't bound up sometimes also if you tried to adjust the quick shifter and didn't give it enough play it will bind up.
