DQS not working on downshifts

Maybe they just work better on the xx99 bikes. The "420Speciale" or "420Evo" is the Cordona for the V4 bikes and the V2/Multistrada/ new Streetfighters etc.

Rick's experience mirror's my own. My Cordona is in perfect condition, no damage etc., I just don't like it. As is, its way too sensitive for me with no way to adjust it. IMO, its not a cut time problem, its a sensitivity problem. First time I tried shifting with it on a 1-2 shift it fell flat on its face.

I was going to sell it but I feel like I'd be dumping a less than optimal part on someone.

I was thinking these posts today as I was testing the newTranslogic on my V2. It is very sensitive for sure. I'm used to having to push harder, both on my Yamaha FZ racebikes, and now on my Hyper 950 SP. So it was a bit tricky activating the TL today. I tried being a bit more delicate, and less deliberate, and it worked pretty damn well. But there was a time or two where my boot accidentally touched the lever, and it killed things unintentionally for a second that kind of screwed me up. It's just on the street and not the track, so we'll see. Obviously, I'm assuming that the TL is similar to the Cordona, but that's just by looking at it. But maybe it isn't...

That said, someone who works for the #1 US Ducati team tell me today to stick with the OEM QS and that they use is on their [very expensive and race winning] bike. No .......

I'm just so happy that the QS working that I'm probably not being objective, haha. I'll shake it out a bit more and post. I do still have the OEM one, so maybe I'll swap it out and test and compare a bit.

i like how the stock qs works.. the amount of force require to shift is proportional to the amount required to trip the switch ... ill admit its a little notchy at low rpm but other than that runs good, i tried other shifters and promptly sold them. im just weird i guess. but then again i have all the aids turned off i can turn off..because i like analog..i would not use the QS to but having only 1 good arm it really helps me ride smoother

What do you mean by "TL?" Translogic?

If you are planning to go full aftermarket wiring and ECU, just do it. You are wasting time and money otherwise.

If not, you need to get you bike to 100% OEM functional spec before you even need to think about changing anything. Everything as equipped from the factory needs to work at 100%, and only then try to go beyond that. This is only because you bought a salvage bike and need to get it sorted out.

The OEM QS is very good. The design is prone to heat issues, but the best solution IMO is to buy spares.

that is solid advise.. when im having trouble with something that was modded the first thing i do is go tio 100 percent stock . the restart...and i purchased a spare shifter linkage replacing my dead one.

Thanks for this.

Yes, TL is Translogic. I got tired of writing it out every time, haha.

Well, in two test runs, so far, it's working great. Thanks to 1hander, you, and others, I was able to figure out that the clutch switch was indeed bad. So I think I have it licked. Well, I already put the Translogic one on there. It was part of troubleshooting the problem when the QS was initially not working. I assumed the QS itself was bad, so I swapped it out. So it's in there, set up well and working, so I think I'm going to let it ride for the track to proper test. The ergos feel good, so I don't want to readjust everything again. If I find it too sensitive, or have any more problems, I'll swap it out for the OEM one.

I rode around for another session yesterday afternoon, and it keep working and feeling great. Again, a little sensitive, but as I got used to it, I liked it. No missed gears, false neutrals or calibration issues (so far!). And I'm running -1/0 gearing, which is generally problematic. Maybe the larger circumference Dunlop slick tires counter-compensates? Who knows. It's chilly here the next 10 day, but I'd like to do a track day to test. Otherwise, I'm racing club with Panam at Homestead in two weeks to "test."

As a general process of troubleshooting, I totally agree! But it's on there and working, so I don't want to mess with it again! lol.

I finally had a chance to test my bike and totally agree with some others about the Translogic being too sensitive for my taste. After one session, I put the OEM one back on.

Guys did you solve this problem? My problem starts when my dry clutch start sliping in the middle of lap. i go down to the depo and from that i cant downshift from 6-5 and from 5-4 when the rpms are above 6K

Hello. It turned out. My problem was bad ignition coils. It was never the quick shifter. I might put the Translogic back on.

Glad you got it working. How did you determine it was the coils?

Hey! Thank you. Yes, definitely the coils. Well we replaced them and it worked good since then, so that’s how we determined. Lol

Ran hard on the dyno and ran the track and no problem. He said they looked pretty bad. Again, I think the bike sat in water for a while. This was one of those types of things I just had to potentially anticipate getting a salvage bike.

I’ve been running the Yamaha hard in the twins class and enjoying it. But I’m gonna change it over to this Ducati pretty soon. I’m also about to build another or acquire one.
