Being old and not grasping new tech doesn’t make someone dumb

I didn't mean to demean old people

what I meant is that there always be a lot of people who take their tech / motorcycle / vehicle to a dealer to do the service work, much more than enthusiasts that learn .... themselves. this in no way means that Ducati or BMW needs to stop innovation and give us less horsepower, no, the opposite, the more the better. Its called progress.

what makes you think so ? I learned how to do oil changes on BMW and Ducati from youtube videos of other people online.

and moreover, if we keep making this parallel with Iphone, you would be surprised how many grandmas go to the service center at the Apple Store to install a new app or add an email account. Its same ..... Majority are dumb but hey, they don't read forums.

I guess I'm taking my opinion is from dealer mechs telling me about how many of these types of bikes come in for service with bugger all oil in them and owners not being aware of how regularly they need to check it. Partners 21 RSV4 got to using over 1L of oil per 1000 km. On a bike with a 4L oil capacity and a recommended 10,000km service interval wouldn't take long for stuff to go wrong. No doubt about iPhones but I'm not getting the reference.

Misunderstood what you meant. 👍

The more electronics have advanced the less people have worked on their own vehicles. Even workshops these days just plug in a computer and change a part rather than fixing anything.

You should be safe in the US if you keep it stock since all your sportsbikes are delivered with nanny tune standard

My ‘24 V4? It doesn’t ‘feel’ restricted, but perhaps a little up top, where I really haven’t had much of a need to venture given all I ride are very curvy back roads.

Restriction is all one’s perception. I’ll gladly keep my stock 200+ hp engine. These engines are stressed enough, keep it stock is less chance of it detonating

I too, am more than happy with stock power, I simply want the restrictions lifted, so the only limitation is me.

For example, my previous Honda cbr1000rr sp, was heavily restricted at the ecu. It took several years for the ecu to be cracked, and thence came the various mail-in flash opportunities which de restricted all the limitations imposed upon it, as well as some minor enhancements. Night & day differences.

Detonation is caused by poor tuning. And these engines are capable of withstanding a bunch more power. The design is not the issue, it's primarily assembly/quality problems. There's are a bunch of these being mercilessly flogged and they're still together.

I contend that you cannot blow a maintained engine on the street unless it's abused. The simple reason is that you cant keep them at redline in any gear for any length of time because you will run out of road or meet reality in the from of Leo's or other road users. On the street its short duration power squirts, track is different. Reported engine failures are few and far between.

How often can you keep a bike at redline on the track? That just doesn't make sense.

Have you ever been to the US? There are sections of highway where you won't see another car for periods of time far exceeding the run down a straight on a track, while being on a section of straight flat roadway further than you can see.

surely there is a trooper with a speed gun hiding behind the ad post somewhere on that straight ?

It's not a police state. There are very few police officers compared to the population, even more so in rural areas. Besides, who gives a .... if there is? Take the ticket and get a lawyer.

No. On most the 2 lanes between the Rockies and the Sierra's you couldn't find a cop if you needed one. The sheriffs are typically within 5 miles of whatever town they're based in. I do try to cruise under an indicted 100 mph though. The good bit though is that with few exceptions they're never on the twisty bits. I love me some Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, southern Utah...

I have reviewed every engine failure I can find. They all seem to be assembly/quality related. The early oil pumps were dodgy though.
