Hey guys, I just picked up this 05 636 the other day for my wife to learn on and when shes ready for a Ducati it will become my first track bike.

Has anyone on here ever tracked one of these or have any experience with them? I have never owned a Kawasaki and know nothing about them but it was a good price and a well kept bike.

Thanks

I have got the 2013 636 and I track that a lot and is a fantastic bike, a lot faster than other 600s, keeps up with the 750s easily and gives 1000cc bikes a run for their money on tight twisites and tracks!

Here is a pic of mine.

It's a good bike. They have amazingly strong motors for a 600. They are a bit portly as most kawis are but it's solid and stable.

i have a 2007 zx6r and i love the bike. do you know about the jumper mod? gives you up to 10hp at the wheel and its free

Ex-GF has one as her race/trackbike. They are known for throwing rods and are very sensitive to oil. Don't run super lightweight oil and make sure it's always topped off, even slightly high (Track/race use, doesn't really matter on the road).

Really solid front end and tons of torque, great bike overall.

I used to run a 2009 ZX6R; loved that thing, and will always have a soft spot for Kawi.

When I think of those 636s, the first thing that comes to mind is the motor...and in a good way.

If that's the factory black color then that's a 2006 636. I had that exact bike. Had a 2004 636 before that one. In all honesty, I liked my 2004 better....Probably cuz it was modded n the 06 was stock lol

Anyway, reliable bike, low maintenance, -1/+1 gearing with a 520 chain and let the fun begin.

I had 03 636 and I must agree with double, -1/+1 gearing.

Definitely agree with the -1/+1 gearing and the jumper mod. Had one as a track bike for awhile, definitely a fun bike just make sure you keep up with the maintenance and dont go too light on the oil. Mine was always able to keep up with my buddy on a same year ZX10 at Streets of Willow (tight twisty track).

Still have mine. Same year/color - Black 2006 model.

Raced it for a couple of years in CCS. An absolute beast when compared to other 600s... even won one race "eeking out" an 1098 on last lap during Formula 40 race (when it used to be mix of liter and 600s). Very fast bike - bit of modification has to take place to make it turn in quicker, but as many have said... amazing motor! :)

that bike is a fantastic bike. too powerfull for a learners bike in my opinion though.

I learned on a 2004 636 brand new. It all depends on the individual. If you have respect for the machine and what it could do to you, you should be okay. It is usually the ones who get bikes for the wrong reasons n start acting like ..... who have trouble with 600's as a starter bike.

Hey guys thanks for all of the info and tips, that jumper mod is Awesome! If any of you have detailed instructions please post them or send them over, I wont be doing it until its converted this winter to track use. Shes doing fine with the bike ,I started her on a 125 dirt bike last year in prep for a street bike and with in 2 hrs of seat time shes shifting and weaving cones just fine and hasn't even dropped it yet.
