For anyone interested in stocking up on a set of tires for future use even if you don't need a set right now, motorcyclesuperstore has the Dunlop Q3 190 55 rear and 120 70 front tires for $252 shipped. Through the end of the month, they have an additional 5% off using promo code PB-DUN, which brings your total down to $239. Then you also have an additional $40 mail-in-rebate which will make your net cost at $200. Free shipping and no tax out of state. Doesn't get much better than that. Cheapest price anywhere.

Just an FYI, I have started running Bridgestone Battlax R10s front and rear, rear is a 190/55 and is absolutely awesome. I prefer the tyre over the Pirelli. Bear in mind these are track tyres so can't comment on road feel. Traction control wise I haven't felt the DTC kick in earlier at all. Overall I gained 3s on my lap time using the R10s.

What kiind of setup are you using? I've thought about just doing it myself with all the M/C''s around my house. But my (biggest) problem is I don't have any place to put a permanent mount tire machine/whatever. And the "portable" ones I've looked at (i.e. ones that aren't bolted to floor) look to be pretty flimsy.

Used to do my own tire mounts when I was running dirt bikes. But there's a lot of difference in spooning on a sand tire (w/tube) for the Husky and a 17" 190/55 for the Duc and the Triumph. Local guy will do them for $20 bucks for me which isn't bad. But 7-8 tire swaps a year tends to get expensive.

Wasn't addressed to me, but what the heck... ;) While I do have a cheap bead breaker, I otherwise do mine by hand, and balance them with a Marc Parnes static balancer. Only do two-three sets a year so not that much trouble; if I were doing twice that I'd likely bother to pick up a changer of some sort. But the rear is the easier of the two by far. Can always do the first side going on and the last side coming off with no spoon at all. Good therapy, working on your bike...

Q3 vs super corsa

Put q3 on my bike 190/55 and 120 70 and had to turn TC off was going crazy
And was not happy with the grip although tip in was quicker with 190 55
Pirelli far better tire for grip, does anyone have totorial on how to raise rear ride height

If you had to turn traction control completely off after switching to Q3's then you may have made a mistake somewhere on install. The Q3's will affect TC to a small degree, but certainly not to the drastic extent you experienced. I'm also curious about your statement about not being happy with grip. What kind of riding are you doing primarily?

Someone say tire changer? Cycle hill, by no mar. Quick and easy, I made a hitch mount for my truck! Nice and affordable, paid of in one year as I did 5 of my friends' tires...

No way am I paying $120 at the dealer. Some don't even wanna do it if you don't buy the tires from them!

So tell me about your Cycle Hill - No-Mar. I've looked at it and have been considering it for a tire changer.

i have the 200/50 Q3 and apparently as pointed out by another member on this thread that this profile is much further off from the SC 200/55, much more so than the 190/55 Q3. i have my sport mode set at 5 TC and it really isnt too invasive. i cant see the 190/55 Q3 being any worse. i still power out of corners with not too much interference from the TC, and when it does engage a little earlier, it still functions nicely. as for grip, i havent found a better tire from cornering to straight line acceleration on the street. i went on a road trip (mostly straight line highway) so to save some tire life i set the pressure to a very high 40psi and the tire tire still holds very nicely. the TC allows me to really push the tire and test the grip when exiting corners and i still had plenty of grip in second, wide open at 9k and the front wheel comes right up even when leaned pretty far over. really fun. for spirited riding i set them the 34 rear and 32 front and grip is outstanding. easily comparable to the SC if not as good or better on the street at least.

Yeah, if you can run the 200/50 without having to turn off TC then there's no reason anyone would need to turn off TC for the 190/55. Additionally, considering the quality of grip and the fact you can get a new front and rear tire for $50-100 less than one SC rear, the value is difficult to pass up.

i couldnt agree more. i was getting to the point where i was ready for the back to kick out on me before the traction control actually kicked in and kept it from doing so and im all the way up on 5 in TC in sport. the light definitely flickers alot even when barely on the gas. very random times. i find it very odd that it doesnt cut power until the tire actually breaks loose. i suppose if im at 80% throttle and the light is flickering, that perhaps its cutting only 10-15% power so i dont feel the loss? im not sure if the system works like that but i certainly dont feel a power cut whatsoever even while the light is flickering until i actually feel a slight break in traction first. can anyone advise on why that may be or if that makes any sense? some people are saying if the light is flickering, the bike is cutting power...but i dont feel it cutting a single bit until i personally feel the loss in traction first.
