Can you actually ride a passenger for any length of time?

I tried riding a couple ladies last year and it was straight up miserable like no other bike ever! Impossible really.. the bike makes the passenger basically lay on your back..you're their only support it seems.

To say it was unbearable on the wrists was an understatement!

Was it my passengers or do you guys feel the same?

Where I come from your topic heading and your first sentence must mean something different. ;)

I suppose it's up to the ladies to allow you to ride them first off and see where that takes you.

Have you not tried to ride any ladies this year?

Ive noticed more pressure on my wrists and im basically holding them up also but its the same on every sportbike ive ever ridden.

But as to your other question if your on top riding a lady there is definitely more pressure on your wrists. Let her get on top for a bit lol.

yup, 4 hours ride up to the dragon, back and forth on the dragon, cherohala skyway in pouring rain, and also the 4h back.

made possible with tank cover with grips/ears, the comfort passenger seat and really good training...

Phil is that actually a cover for the tank? And did you make it? If so, price? This may help alot with the longer rides.

Did it once on my Panigale and it was torture. Was convinced by one of my "lady friends" to take her for a different kinda ride and it was the worst two up experience I've ever had on a bike. Installed the full Akrapovic without cutting out the passanger peg holes on the carbon heat shield just so i won't be able to have a passanger riding again. My last bike was night n day more comfortable (Daytona 675). I dunno how some of you guys do it. Maybe my lady friend being 5'9 didn't help any either. Who knows. She was practically leaning on my back the entire ride. Maybe if we never had to use the brakes to comes to a stop, it may be a lil more tolerable but i still wouldn't try it again.

Sorry "lady friends". Guess there's only one kind of riding you're allowed to do.

yes, fiberglass, with kevlar reinforcements on the most exposed edges..

the bumps work quite well. i made it. priceless :D - i haven't considered making more yet. yes, it helps.

I just have to say this...

Phil, you amaze me more and more everytime I see your posts. Not because are you clearly very handy at custom modifications (this time)... I have to just say kudos to you for:

1) Bring passengers and possibly introducing our sport to new people
2) Making sure that they are appropriately geared up for the ride!!!

I see too many guys taking their girls out for a ride and they are wearing next to nothing... Don't get me wrong, I love seeing girls in tank tops that barely hold their t**s in with their g-strings riding up well past their yoga pants... but man, what a wreck that pretty girl will be if/when a car pulls out in front of you while eating a burger or sipping back their Latte.

I have nothing but respect for you, brother!

I joined a taxi ride in January with a German ex-master (MATTHIAS NEUKIRCHEN) on a Panigale 1199S: 3 rounds in Almeria. There where two handlebars welded to the tank....

Jeeeeeeeeeeezez: The Pani can easely handle two guys (and I am fat) on her!! The straights all way down wheeeling very smoothly, in the corners passing other riders, both of us hanging off.
On SC2s. his knees where dragging... And braking was like throwing an anchor into the ground.

This bike is truly a master piece of engineering art!!! The ride was an eye-opening experience for me.

i even have a video somewhere of the first half lap before the battery died... gotta find it...

It's all about the ability of the passenger :D

yup. no knee dragging with her in the near future. the belly is growing fast :D

back on topic:

for the 1x98 series there were those handles for the tank cap available. i couldn't find these yet for our panigale... also, they have a different bolt pattern.

BUT: they are relatively far forward...

another system i've seen was the fixing of two vertical handles on the subframe bolts upwards ...

hmmm...

Found a nice picture on Ducati4U with another passenger... :)

Congrats!!!! All the best for you both!

found these:

Powerstands 2-up Passenger Bars Passenger Bar Bk Duc/yam

most likely won't fit. but there was also a nicer version with a quick release system... don't find detail pics.

Pretty sure this will fit on any 1199 with an aftermarket gas cap. The bolt pattern looks the same.

I would ride 2up with my boys right until they got their licenses. They rode Ninja 250's at our trackdays since age 12 and were such good passengers that I sometimes had to check if they were still there (the younger one weighed 180 towards the end).

Maybe the OP should give a little "passenger 101" course to the lovely ladies he hauls around. But then again I can imagine that the closeness might have it's benefits.;)
