Can you actually ride a passenger for any length of time?

from my experience doing 2up with the wife.. she can handle 250 miles in a day and so can i.. she holds the tank while braking and doesnt lean on me, so i dont feel even a pound of extra weight on my back.. sometimes i even forget shes back there :p
when she does put weight on me, i nudge her slightly and reminder her that the extra weight on my back just makes it exponentially difficult for me..
before we started riding 2up i think we saw every instructional video about it on youtube

oh and she did say that my previous bike 2006 cbr600 felt like a scooter in height, and like a Cadillac in comfort

I have attempted that...
They may just be too weak to perform such a task of finding a way to stabilize themselves without using me

found these:

Powerstands 2-up Passenger Bars Passenger Bar Bk Duc/yam

most likely won't fit. but there was also a nicer version with a quick release system... don't find detail pics.

Pretty sure this will fit on any 1199 with an aftermarket gas cap. The bolt pattern looks the same.

I would ride 2up with my boys right until they got their licenses. They rode Ninja 250's at our trackdays since age 12 and were such good passengers that I sometimes had to check if they were still there (the younger one weighed 180 towards the end).

Maybe the OP should give a little "passenger 101" course to the lovely ladies he hauls around. But then again I can imagine that the closeness might have it's benefits.;)

@Phl

Can't figure out who to quote posts from Tapatalk. Anyways, just wanted to say that your fab work is amazing.

Did it once on my Panigale and it was torture. Was convinced by one of my "lady friends" to take her for a different kinda ride and it was the worst two up experience I've ever had on a bike. Installed the full Akrapovic without cutting out the passanger peg holes on the carbon heat shield just so i won't be able to have a passanger riding again. My last bike was night n day more comfortable (Daytona 675). I dunno how some of you guys do it. Maybe my lady friend being 5'9 didn't help any either. Who knows. She was practically leaning on my back the entire ride. Maybe if we never had to use the brakes to comes to a stop, it may be a lil more tolerable but i still wouldn't try it again.

Sorry "lady friends". Guess there's only one kind of riding you're allowed to do.

Same here when I put the Akra on I did not cut out the holes for passenger pegs and so its a solo bike for me.

These Grab bars help quite a bit.

I've ridden a passenger from time to time, but honestly never thought about riding her on a motorcycle. Do some of them seem to enjoy it? ;)

you guys buy me some time and i will make some. prettier and all that .......

right now i sleep 4-5 h/night and hustle all day. buuuusy!

BellisiMoto sells the bar mount system.

I used a slingshot racing Quick release gas cap to mount it to.

The holes dont line up properly so I used only 3/5 of the holes and had to drill them out just a bit bigger.

All in all it works good, but takes some mickey mousing to get it safely installed

In fairness, look at the thing!! It was never designed with passengers in mind. It's basically a token gesture.

The only person I know who could sit on that seat without any 'overspill' is my two year old daughter!!! :D

I have also tried it once, and as the gentleman has already said, it takes the enjoyment out completely. You're caught up in how the passenger is, when to brake, how to etc.

But I don't really take many pillion passengers, hardly ever. I do agree though, training and experience could greatly help.

For me, a passenger with enough knowledge of bikes, given their position over the wheel and weight, could essentially steer this bike for you.

Bottom line: If you want to go for rides out with the missus, that's the perfect reason to convince her you need a second, more suitable, bike!! :D

they should just sell velcro seats and patches for the passengers' bottoms.

i think i have seen a fun vid somewhere with a rather interlocking approach, but that vid is .... - but might provide the passenger another level of enjoyment...

my answer might be a bit biased because she is only 95# and i found it fairly easy to carry her, as you described, "on my back"....yes, that is what happens. she said it wasn't bad but not as comfortable when she rides on the back of my ss800. but that bike is not as fun. :)

My wife and I ride together regularly. At least once a week. It took her some getting used to, due to the body positioning being different. Plus she is short and small. I've changed some things like rear sets, getting the cruise control (tuneboy). I still have the wrist pain, but it's bearable. It's also better with a good set of gloves. Tell her to keep her Damn hands on the tank lol.

We do pretty often. Even ran 1:26's at JenningsGP in Florida while riding 2up (this picture is from 4-5 years ago). :D

The ones with the quick release are vinxxgrip. But everything I have found says not for Panigale. Anyone know why?

But does anyone know why they say doesn't fit the Panigale?

Sorry tapatalk talk issues. Thought it hadn't posted

they do not actually make one for the Panigale i believe.

I used one for a 1098 and used a quick turn gas cap by slingshot racing.

Its not a perfect matching pattern but i made it work.

Its mounted with 3 holes instead of 5 since the holes dont all line up
