Condensation inside of the R dash screen this AM.

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I have condensation issues. Took pictures and showed dealer. He said the Ducati rep stated that the screen is not sealed, therefore, condensation will occur. No solution provided.

I will be bringing this issue up again, as it fogs up the whole screen at times and is a legitimate safety concern.

Seriously, call Transport Canada and file a complaint.

Can this company do anything right? I mean how many issues has this bike had now in total? I'm keeping mine for now, but don't see keeping it too close to the warranty end date with the issue list continuing to rise. On a positive note- after scratching my dash with a god damn screw driver I sure wouldn't mind my dash fogging up for a free replacement ;-)

I had my dash replaced due to condensation/fogging, intermittent horn, trip meter and signal light issues. Now all that was eliminated and works fine EXCEPT for the fogging issue...it's still there but disappears after a few minutes.

I decided that it aint worth the trouble, as more important stuff like horn, trip meter and signal lights now work 100% with no issues...:D

So the fogging is just minor... but then again paying so much for a bike like this...there shouldn't be problems anymore...well...I just let the fogging issue go and enjoy riding her. Love my Pani!!! Wont trade her for any other bike EXCEPT the "R"...:D

Dude, every bike has a long list of issues, there aren't going to be any bleeding hearts here when it comes to hate on for Ducati.

I just sold a set to a guy, actually his GF bought him the entire Corse set for his birthday-how cool is that? Hopefully he will post them up for us here once received and mounted up. :D

Are these carbon parts lighter or are they strictly cosmetic?

I too have the fogging dash issue (2013 base ABS). Sent photos to the dealership and they ordered a replacement no questions asked. They told me that the replacement dash will unfortunately suffer the same problems and apparently Ducati are working on a permanent fix.

Now do I replace my existing dash with one that's going to probably fog again?

I can stop the fogging if I avoid getting water anywhere near the dash. Not the best strategy though when you live in the UK!

To those who've had their dash replaced, does your mileage go back to the correct amount eventually?

I just had my dash replaced and am just a little concerned, I was told that after riding for a bit and e few starts that the computer would send the correct mileage to the dash...is this so?

I don't like my mileage inaccurate and though some may thing differently, there's no real advantage in having your mileage reset to 0...I take pride in the miles I've put on her :).

New dash equals 0 Miles.... No way around that...sorry

I would hate to reset my dash back to zero, but mine started fogging up recently. I might have to figure out a way to seal it on my own.

Just recently?? You rode coast to coast without any fogging issues? Amazing

Congrats, by the way!

I have a S version, same here, I can live with it, no way I'm starting from zero. Mine does it when it's cool outside, then when the engine comes up, FOG , but goes away.

It's good to know after all you two have been through, she still gets excited to see you ;)

The 1199 has a 1 yr warranty?

Had the dash fog up a little once in my Tri. Never happened again.

I was dreading this thread happening to me, but alas it did. I called my dealer, who is normally top-notch, and was told that this was the first time they had heard of it in Australia.

Ducati Australia asked for a pic, so I sent them a pic. Three weeks after I sent the pic, I have just been told that they have to wait for feedback from Ducati Head officer in Italy for a solution......AWESOME:mad:

The mechanic said it was an issue on the 1198 as well, and they just took the back off the dash unit and sprayed some kind of anti-condensation, problem solved.

I might give this a go before replacing the dash.

Makes me afraid to wash the bike...lol.

Just put a shower cap on and your hair should stay dry...lol. It sounds like a small design flaw or a QC problem either way it shouldn't take to long for them to work out a fix.

Spraying some 3M electronic sealing on it sounds like it wouldn't hurt.

Only once for me, bike was sitting in the garage for a few days as it was pissing down outside (maybe she was crying not being riden LOL), I have told and emailed the dealership, however have not seen it again, not too concerned about it as I have seen this in cars also.

Just so you know there's no fix for condensation in the dash, it will randomly happen to random bikes in different climates and situations.
The dash is not sealed so there may be no way to totally prevent this.

I didn't get my dash replaced for that reason, I had my replaced for a cosmetic defect that I didn't like. I would have just lived with condensation if that was the case :).

My lead tech says he was informed in school that the dash would display accurate mileage after riding 6 miles, well I've ridden 50 and no change :/....He said he'll contact Ducati again and find out.

So now .....'13 Ducati 1199 for sale with 50 pampered miles...who wants it? Lol j/k I don't sell bikes.

I haven't had any problems with condensations on either of my Panigales. Maybe it's the "drier" climate in Santiago. I've ridden both in the rain and repeated washes with no problems with fogging.
