As an update to my posts above, my dealer has been authorized to replace mine. He said they are working on a fix and claim it's caused by light magnifying through the windshield. My bike almost never sits out in the sun, and I have a dark tinted shield so I'm not buying that, but as long as they are working with me and working on a fix I don't care what they think is causing it. At least they acknowledge they know there is a problem.

Yes they're working on it at the moment.
It may not always be the case.

I do sincerely hope that DUCATI will continue to work towards sorting it out for those of us who have these machines, and not decide to leave us all to wither on the vine in the long run.

This dash business is probably the single biggest issue with the 1199.
And one that we as current owners shouldn't be saddled with going forward.

I should imagine the replacement for the 1199 will be a lot better sorted out before coming to market.

This is my second dash screen and the problem is still there...

Doesn't look good

Ducati told my dealer the same thing and I didn't buy it either. Just so long as they don't hang us out to dry when the warranty is up.

so is the "R" worth the extra money? Just curious to hear some real world impressions by someone who has had both. I have the 41t sprocket coming to make my S a little more R like.

the cheapest tune you'll ever have... :)

the solution is the drilled 2 vent holes so it would dissapate... this is no joke.. :)

The dealer told you that???

It was also the solution for the dash on the 1098/1198.
They even send from factory a cardboard with the holes marked, so that you'd drill on the right place.

And how do they ensure that the water doesn't enter when washing/rain?

How do they control the depth of the drill? :D

If I'm not mistaken, the 1098 and 1198 dash where not sealed. You could easily tear it apart.

So, you could safely drill the holes on the back of the dash and then put all the parts together.

Have no idea... :)

But it solved the problem on 1098 and 1198. There where even a service note issued by Ducati Factory and sent to the dealers talking about that.

What really annoys me, is not having a problem on a bike, it's not being properly addressed. This issue is known on Ducati for ages!!!

Even on "tupperware" bikes this condensation problem is not an issue. I had several brands and not even once I had this problem. On my fist Ducati it took 200km...
