flynbulldog can you take a few pictures of the rear fender (license plate holder) to show how it is attached to the underside of the tail. That is one ugly piece of plastic that will be the first thing to go and I want to see how I can put something in its place.

Cheers.

I'm sure Rizoma, R&G and many others are already working on a tail tidy / license plate holder so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Till date,i think the 1199 is a interesting bike that defines the co-existant of form (beauty) and dual function (purposes).

By now,i guess we are quite accustomed to the major design objectives that Ducati set for this project.Less weight and more power....translate to fast bike...must be stable and stop fast...

Weight:

Same component weight, dual purposes include:

Engine - power plant + "central frame"
- Left alu mounting to engine- for LH foot-peg and rear shock to swing-arm
Tappered front headlamp lens - light spread and directing ram air with lower wing.(enlarged ram air - contribute to hp?)
Front subframe - airbox and stirring cone (headstock)
Fuel tank - hold the gas and lid for the airbox

weight loss
supplier influenced/choice: Brembo M50 and Mazz forks 50mm, newly engineered for weight reduction,Bosch M-cycle ABS.
magnesium covers and lighter starter-motor other weight reduction effort from engine

Power (hp)

-engine (as mentioned by others) 195hp from a L-twin.this alone really impresses me.
-to reduce pumping losses (inefficiency) with e-thottle flap, big but light Titanium tappets, crankcase vaccum pump (gerotor?)....

Aesthetic

personally the fairing flows nicely from the front to the rear with occasional cuts at the sides to allow moving air to exit.wind tunnel tested and proven for sure.

What Ducati set out to do , they did it for the final product. Now is the true test...to see how it will perform in the racing arena. This will be their greatest focus.

Eventually, is your hard earn money and your decision.....but give yourself a chance ...to test and ride the bike ...it may surprise you (at least it did to Bayliss!)

Perhaps after riding the bike , the form and function of its components all comes togather and start to make sense and it is actually a beautiful bike to begin with.....

I have not had the chance to see the bike in the flesh yet, but still ordered the 1199s tricolore, the dealer was kind enough to change it from the original 1199s.
The bike was ordered on seeing the picture's from the Milan show.
There will always been negative comments you cannot keep everyone happy as bikes within the brand develop.
I have a 1098r that is only 6 months old but this new bike should take it to another level.
I've not heard of any cancelled orders, the allocation seems to be full at most dealers.
Roll on April

My dealer ordered 24 bikes for his year's total allotment. Of those only 4 were Tricolores and all 4 are sold.

At the time we spoke (about 3 weeks ago) none of the other 20 bikes had deposits.

As soon as I can get my hands on a 1199 I will be designing a fender eliminator kit for it. From what I have seen it shouldn't be too drastic a piece of engineering.

Just went to see the Panigale at the Toronto Motorcycle Show. It exceeded my expectation in everyway. Ergonomics seem great for my 6' 2" frame with plenty of leg room and less reach to the bars than my 1198. Build quality is top notch as far as I can see. Blimey the bike is tiny! Incredible Ducati did it again. Definitely an S for me when the time comes. I am gob smacked it's beautiful and you can see more of the engine which I like. The whole bike seems much cleaner too with the rear cylinder tilted a further 6 degrees forward. There is nothing about this bike I don't find stunning. I left the show after seeing it and it was worth the price of admission.

I agree....and very impress with this bike. I can't wait to get my new panigale!

Havn't seen one in person yet. But have seen ALL the pictures. This bike is friking awesome looking ! The only dissappointment I had was that the standard does not include full LED lighting. And from what I hear , it won't be easy ( if at all posible ) to swap out the headlight assemblies ! I think the price of the standard is fair. The "S" models......not so much. For the jump in prices , they should also include FULL Termi exhausts ! Hope to have my 1199 in early March !

Well I saw and sat on the bike (S) in Milan and then again in Geneva crawled all over it and personaly I find it incredible and placed my deposit there and then. To me the build quality looked great

Went to closest Ducati dealer and he ordered one S and one Tricolore. Tricolore has deposit down on it. S doesn't. He ordered a few standard ones and half have deposits. Seems that the Tricolore or standard is the popular choice.

Where is your closest Ducati dealer? We have many models on order and still taking deposits!

Columbus OH.

I haven't gone to Ducati Indianapolis or Ducati Louisville yet. Both of those are just slightly further than Columbus for me. I live near Kings Island.

Cool,

I work at Commonwealth Motorcycles in Louisville KY (you could call us Louisville Ducati). We have a lot of customers from Cincy and Dayton since the Cincy dealer went out of business.

How are you guys doing on deposits? I have read a lot of comments on this forum that state the 'S' is not gaining much attention, yet everything I read elsewhere, I see people say thats what they put the deposit down on....

Curious to see what you are seeing in the heart of the U.S.
