Hi. Currenlty owner of a a vrod muscle a panigale v4s and a gsa 1250, i am consodering to sell the hd because of the little use i have of it. Then the gsa1250 may also go as the bmw quality and customer service isnt what is used to be. I was considering swapping with a mts v4 rally but i find the price a bit prohibitive. I like the style and practicality of this bike, but then i am not doing so much offroad, just small country side and mountain roads. This brings me to another option: sell all 3 bikes and get a mts v4 pikes peak. So i get the sport bike and the touring bike at the same time. Plus i m sure i can negociate with the ducati dealer to sell my panigale, even if i love it. What do you think anyone had tried both bikes? Or should i keep my panigale?

But are the tires any good on wet country side roads? They'ce out the panigale tires on it right?

The good news is that you can put whatever you want on them, Supercorsas etc even Scorpion trail if that's your thing and ride accordingly. If you ride wet and cold roads then stick on a set of M9's Rosso 4's or Road 6's

1260 V2 Pikes Peak? How much better is the V4 compared to the 1260? which one is more reliable? the blind spot detector and ACC I couldnt care less.
If I get a 2nd hand I wouldnt bother selling the V4S. New prices are just insane these years

Havent ridden the V4 PP but the 1200 is plenty fun, in the real world (not track) 160 hp is more than enough. Its easy to get starstruck with new models but the twins are pretty good at what they are made for, they have all the Ducati sound and charisma. The V4 PP is by all reports a weapon but with more cylinders and complexity what you gain in performance you lose in other areas. To me after owning Pani's and the MTS, if I had to go across town, take any kind of trip other than a sporting blast or trackday, its the Multi that gets picked. They are easy to ride, dont roast your legs and are pretty tall so you can see over the tin tops. The PP versions are the ones to get.

Yes I think for this kind of bike that I will drive most of the time, then I would rather have wet tires with a good grip even when it is cold. the Panigale I really use it during summer days, but a drop of rain and I can see it s not easy to handle the corners

I sat on a MTS V4 rally, and it already felt lighter and a bit lower than my 1250GSA. It's an advantage for me as I am not that tall.
what made me go for a GS back in the days was a special offer BMW had, an overall lower price and got the driveshaft instead of the chain. This is really what is missing to the MTS to make it a bike with the least maintenance possible.

That why its a laugh when people try to modify the MTS for more performance, they are what they are which is a quick comfy bus for eating miles. The Pani is ok for touring but if you had to do 1000k days with luggage its the MTS, just like if you want to do a track day or go for a blast its the Pani.

I can see the only reason to fit in a race exhaust on the mts is to get rid of these uglh cats that overheat the engine.

Not looking for a v4r but if this is sporty enough I would get only 1 bike.

You will be pleasantly surprised, this is Carlins Dunn's bus which I am sure he could ride around the outside of most of the squids posting here! The 4 is definitely an upgrade on the twin

I liked his colab with Ducati, Pikes Peak is great. Too bad it is all history now, doubt we will ever see another one.

But is it more a highway or clean road bike or can I use it on small mountain roads like the gs? I really see a difference compared to the panigale with an advantage to the gs when i drive on cold wet roads for example

Damn you bring your V4R here :s
That's the kind of roads i'm talking about. I did it once or twice but hearing the gravels hitting the fairings made me have a mini heart attack.
