Hmmmmm interesting.....might have to do this to get me by while I save for Termi/Akra. Hehehe.
Thanks Phil, keep us posted and pics of final design. Thumbs up!

i will start designing the hex mesh covers tonight and send an RFQ out to the laser cutter for pricing.

what do you guys think, will riveting hold it? welding might get difficult and i don't want to cut into a visible area.

K, awesome. I'll be waiting for the finished product and we can proceed from there. Thanks again for stepping out of the box and doing this for the community!

I want to say that rivets would hold. You are obviously going to need high strength rivets ( High-Strength (HS) Rivets | Stanley Engineered Fastening ) but it should be fine. Rivets are commonly used in off road exhausts. I have had problems with cheep ones popping out but not the HS ones. Also given the location on design I dont think you would have an overwhelming amount of pressure at the location. I only have had problems with rivets that are located where the exhaust meets the pipe for the header (if that makes sense). Sounds cool BTW

green: cored exhaust & stock 206 ducati file
blue: cored exhaust & tuneboy V3

i'd say, there's some horses to be found in the lower range :D

the question would be if it's okay to have it fixed with rivets from the outside, or it the rivets should be hidden...

i mean, rivets (visible) are quite common with exhausts, so i guess, they'd be acceptable.

i'd say 3 or 4 tabs to get them fixed...

will do a last iteration tomorrow for better fitment to the shape of the outlet and then get the model out for quoting from the laser cutter.

finished the last iteration of the covers/inserts.

also finished the instructional videos for exhaust removal (will send link if requested) and the comparison:

i guess the GoPro's mic can't capture the real difference, you might have noticed more bass in the cored exhaust.

but to quote my friend, who just bought a full Akra for his S1000RR: "that thing is so loud, i can't even hear my new exhaust(, .......)!!! " :D :D :D
