Ok so Lewis Hamilton just won f1 championship at COTA. Watching him on that track is almost as good as seeing MM dominate motogp on that track. I have to go there. So I would like to know the following by people that know because they have actually BEEN there:
1 where is the best place to watch the race and qualifying ( turn 1 back straight etc)
2 are the ticket packages worth it
3 where to go for night life.

2016 Coto motogp I will be there this year no question.
Thanks for your help

Having just come back from F1, I would say Turn 1 was probably the most exciting place to be, especially right after the start when everyone ran into each other.

I slummed it up with general admission at only 99 dollars a ticket. We had to sit in the mud but that was an anomaly this year. Parking was 10 bucks.

More nightlife then you can take in. There's 6th street, which has tons of bars and clubs, as well as Rainey Street. And many unique restaurants and food trucks.

i want to go to an f1 race must have been crazy . did you stay for sir elton? not my cup of tea but the guy is a legend. atmosphere must be crazy for a race i cant wait to go.

we've been attending since being and will be going til they don't come anymore. i think the best for me is T15 and we have 3 days passes (about $200) i think from ticket master or you can register with COTA and be on their list. T1 is ok but not great to me. T15 is the best cuz you can see them from back straight and over taking from T12 to 16. you will need to stay in or near downtown area for nite life and parties and there is no other place you want to be

Lets start looking at options on which MotoGP locale to drive to next season bro!

Cant wait to do a long trip in that comfy Beemer of yours! LOL. :)

At F1, during practice and qualifying, last year, I watched from turns 19, 11,12 and the esses, turns 2 through 6.

The esses was my favorite spot, you really how well these cars change direction at speed.

Turns 12 through 16 is a nice complex, you see a lot of track, but it's quite a bit slower and for the most part, pretty much a single line.

If I'm lucky I will be at cota with pramac next year.

Will keep you posted, might get you into the pits.

Cheers,

Phil

with Indy being cancelled (a 3.5 hour drive for me), I've no choice but to head out to COTA. I'm leaning towards trailering bikes; my wife is leaning hard towards flying and renting a car :p

My dad and I watched the motogp race in April from the stands at turn 16. I liked it. You can see them brake at the end of that long back straight and go through 14, 15, 16, and disappear around 17. Then if you go to the top of the stand right there you can see almost the whole track.

As fun as MotoGP is, the track is much more fun to ride. Save the ticket money and make it a track day.

I know I will be there again.
