Just ordered from motoin.de for $1850 shipped to my door, thanks to Doble0, will let you know when it gets here in how long

This suits are tailored to your size by Dainese. Feels like a second skin.

Yea but apparently they only do the measurements on tour, and the next tour in the states isn't until October unfortunately....

Just spoke with Dainese on the phone. They said it can also be done at MotoGP events.

Not sure if everyone is aware that if you buy this suit from overseas it cannot be serviced in the US it will need to be returned to the place/ country of purchase. Just an FYI.

if that's true then it totally sucks and a total dick move by dainese.

I did hear something alongs those lines from my local Ducati dealership. Basically the suit will need to return to wherever it was purchased from, who will then send it in to be serviced. For me, it means a trip down to the Dainese store in Chicago. I believe the store can take your measurements though.

The stores cannot take your measurements, I actually spoke to Dainese on the phone about this. You can't send them in either, there are only a handful of folks "trained" to take custom measurements. One of these guys will be spending some time in the Northeast US this year, but the NW is out of luck outside of the planned tour.

These folks usually tour the US in October, and attend MotoGP events as well. Dainese can hook you up with an appointment at a MotoGP event if you give them a call, which is pretty cool.

but to get a custom D-Air suit it's $5k as opposed to the off the rack one for $2500.

You will still need to provide measurements for proper fit, this is to ensure the off the shelf suit will work correctly. Motowheels.com will get my business. I recommend anyone contact them regarding this suit. I crashed on the track last season separating both AC joints in my shoulders. This suit could have lessened if not prevented my injury. The suit is ALOT cheaper than all the Dr. Copays and missed work!!!! Not to mention the PAIN!!" It's not if but when and how bad you are injured in a crash"!!!! Worth it's weight in gold as far as I'm concerned!!!!

It's worthed for me buying this suite from Germany or Italy saving 400-500$ and then if It needs to be shipped it's still going to be cheaper

If you are only saving $400-500 - it is not much cheaper than what you can get in the USA (if you know the right people) - and less hassle...:)

When buying products overseas, you will find a separate charge on your credit card for the exchange rate fees. Depending on how it is shipped you can be on the hook for customs fees too.

Plus if the air bag goes off or if it needs any software upgrades - you have to send the suit back to the dealer in Europe to get it done.

I just wanted to give props to Stephano and Martin at motowheels.com. They have great communication and have been a pleasure to deal with regarding sizing of the D-air suit. Thank you again and I'll be placing my order in a couple weeks.

Not sure I want to wait for the jacket to show up, According to the instructions the d air suit should not be used on the street or with a back pack, is that just normal instruction conservatism or a potential real world safety issue?

I would have to think there are different algorithms built into the street jacket.

The race suit doesn't activate until you reach 30mph, and sometimes it wont inflate in a low speed crash if it thinks you wont be injured. On the street, even a 25mph crash can be bad if you hit another car or light post or something.

And since the electronics are in the hump, I would think a backpack could block the GPS signal. But that is just a guess.
