Just sharing a pic of my dad from the early 70's man handling his RT 450 .
He was the start of the motorcycle obsession for me I loved being around the bikes and down in the shed working on them when I was a kid .
My dad is now 78 and just ordered a new Scrambler he still rides every weekend and does the occasional touring ride with me .

Anyone else got old pictures of parents and their bikes ?

I'll find it. Its of me and my dad on his 1986 Honda Shadow 750. I had a bright ... yellow faceless helmet on. Your pops is tearing it up in that pic.

They are crackers Wilkson!

I don't have any pics of my old man riding but I learnt to ride on his DT175 back in the early seventies, good times!

I don't think anyone was big on safety gear back then.

My dad did not ride motorcycles.

I am in fact, the first line of rider in my family which resulted in my sister, brother, and then dad getting licenses for riding. My dad has since let the license go as he just couldn't get into riding.

As the first member in my immediate family, I do have pictures of me riding motorcycles... but with my two (2) daughters on the back. I hope that my passion for motorcycles will lead to them becoming future riders.

My dad was a big fan of the old vespa (manual shift) and went through 3 off them and trashed them all without wearing any gear. His friends all drove old vespas and they look like todays wanna be "hipsters" before this nonsense became hip (riding scooters) ... He used to take my mom everywhere on the vespa when they were dating, and even after they were married.
My grandfather, his dad, had a BSA and rode it in the army, according to my dad, this is what got him hooked at a young age.
Now my 2 year old daughter is hooked on my bikes. She always wants to see them and watch me ride. I will be getting her started on small motocross in a couple of years...The lineage must continue no doubt...
Anyways, I will try to hunt down some photographs from my parents house and scan them to post up....

Without a doubt, this is why I started to ride, and at such an early age...

Haha, nice pics in this thread. I am the first in my family to ride. When I brought my first bike home, a brand spanking new 1998 GSXR 750, my mom BURST into tears. She called my brother and sister telling them I was going to kill myself, etc, etc, etc. 22 years later I'm still kickin!!

Anyhow, my wife and I are avid motorcyclist and vowed to not demonize motorcycles with my daughter. So we take her out every chance we get.

My father use to take me to parking lots when I was 16 to ride around on his '82 Magna 750. That was all I needed to get hooked and he gave me that bike when I was 18. I of course got my son into riding when he was 5. My father no longer rides but that hasn't stopped me from trying to get him back into it.
