Have you tried the Ducati race seat? All of the extra height is in the front. I still would like a flatter seat, but it's better than stock.

Race Seats does have three models they advertise as having a flat profile.

I have only tried the stock SP seat up until now. Comparing to the other V4 seats it appears to be a similar shape to the normal seat, with just another cover.

I ordered the flat seat as seen on Miller’s bike, but asked to have it slightly taller, just a few mm, in front, so that it doesn’t slope downward towards the tank as much. I’m very excited to try it out on track next season 😀 I hope it will help me keep my weight towards the rear more under braking. With the shape of the stock seat I found it hard to avoid sliding forward into the tank. Of course, the shape of the pre 22 tank doesn’t exactly offer much support for gripping with your legs either.

Be interested to hear how it goes!

Please give us your thoughts on it when it arrives. I have a tank extender on the way and want to try that before changing the seat. I'm already using the race seat. I like the height but would prefer it flatter.

I ordered one too, though I’m getting it 15 mm higher.

How are you guys ordering the flat one? I'm not seeing an option to add it to cart or anything like that.

Cool! How did you arrive at that number? I was uncertain if I should get the standard height or ask for a taller one, like yourself. I’m 6’2” so might benefit from a taller one..

So I got in touch with the people at Race Seats that resulted in a slightly different design. After considering my size, and issues that I mentioned with my knees from the rearsets set high, they recommended not only making it taller in the front, but keep the flat shape and make it taller overall and slightly wider, with squared off sides. I’m guessing it will be closer to what Steven ordered.

Very happy with the support from Race Seats so far!

I received some pictures from Race Seats from the production of my seat. Here you can see how it compares to the standard shape. Looks really good if you ask me!

Looks good

Did you end up going with their standard height or raising it?

Mine should be close behind yours
Because of the difference in shape between the two, the difference in height will vary, but it’s about 3-4 cm taller than OEM in the middle of the seat where the difference is the biggest, and about 5 mm taller in front. I believe that will work quite well for me. Did you ask for the flat seat + 10 mm overall? I’m not quite sure how that will compare to mine, as they changed the shape from the standard flat option. Though I imagine it won’t be drastically different.

Yeah I asked them to make mine 15 to 20 mm higher with squared sides like yours.

I’m 6’3” but have a relatively short torso to leg ratio, long legs proportionate to my height, so I wanted a bit extra room.

When Tony Elias was working with me he kept circling back around to my legs being too cramped and bent to ride properly with ease, so I lowered my foot pegs to the lowest notch, which was only one lower than it already was, and wanna raise the seat as much as I can and still get good leverage on the tank.

It looks like they bond the material to the seat base, then shape it, I wonder if they would just send me essentially a seat blank, with the seat material bonded to the seat base, but without any shaping done. Then I could shape the seat exactly how I wanted it.

Did you ask them to send pics?

No, they offered to send me pictures when we were discussing which shape would work best. I don’t think it would work to shape it yourself. They add the finishing top layer after they shape the foam on the base plate.

Why not just use the base of standard seat? Nothing special about the RaceSeat base

That could work, the filler material is readily available.

You still want to get ahold of RaceSeats ‘Competition’ material covering, the neoprene seat cover material hardens just a tiny bit over time a looses grip, but their completion seat cover material is really good, really grippy.
