I’m at Jerez in a couple of weeks … more than welcome to show up and strut your stuff..,🤷🏼‍♂️

Can I keep the bags on? They do protect the bike when you toss it away. Don't ask me why I know this?

I bet the numbers are real. One side effect is it immediately 0s warranty on a very expensive engine

Why do you say that? Each dealer relationship with customer is different. Mine is highly tuned with other mods and my warranty was not voided. Funny how people tend to make absolute statements when in fact there is no such thing. 🥱🥱🥱

Correct me if I'm wrong, when a V4R engine failure happens, it's Bologna that takes control, checks all the data and decides whether to supply a new on warranty and pay for labor costs. I haven't seen a single dealer in EU who is prepared to eat the cost.

Yep there wasn't much useable left of yours. So they'd be eating at least 12 or 15K USD for parts and labor. The R's cams alone are $5K. It bugs me they didn't warranty yours.

The dealer may say that you still have your “warranty” but when it comes down to brass tacks on who foots the bill on a blown tuned motor you’ll soon find out. The dealer assesses the problem and gathers information, reaches out to service rep and advocates for you, service rep either approves the work or runs it up the chain. If DNA doesn’t approve the work, then either the dealer picks up the tab or the customer pays. Read your manual, there’s so many things that could lead to a voided warranty. Even changing the gearing allegedly voids the warranty. But you’re right, it’s not black and white when it comes to these things and your relationship with your dealer can play a big part in how well they advocate for you (or not be 100% truthful to DNA).

Hey Bagger, as I’m exploring the KTM world there are guys that take a KTM RC8 (considered on of the best handling bikes of all time) and drop 2022 SuperDuke 1290 engines and ECU’s into them, apparently those engines just drop right into the RC8 frame…thought of you when I saw that.

Also Deussen is badass guys, highly recommend working with him.

But why? The RC8 is a balanced motorcycle, chucking in a new engine with a different format changes so many factors, I'll bet that a stock RC8 will still be as fast if not faster on track. Its like putting a V-8 into a Porsche

Do you have access to every single dealer in EU or USA? Are you aware of every single warranty claim made? Again, your knowledge in this subject is very limited to YOUR experience and does not represent everyone. This is basic business, let’s say your relationship with the dealer is very strong( you have purchase multiple bikes) why would a dealer loose you and your $ by not eating the cost of repair/replace an engine when they can make that money back from you 10 fold?

You are correct. That's how it works. They ask evidence photos data it depends what is needed from headquarters and they decide.

The warranty process for Ducati is BS. Everything needs to be approved. Every step. My friend bought a new 23. Has a clutch problem. Been to the dealer a couple of times. Still isn't fixed. As soon as it's resolved he's selling the bike because of his inability to touch it and retain the warranty. Audi's greed has made Ducati a worse company towards its customers. Panibadboy's R should have been warrantied period. Factory quality problem that could have killed him.

Late to the party on this thread due to work obligations but I did not have a good experience with Deussen. Ordered the flasher where the connector and instructions were missing completely. Finally got the connector with instructions from a fellow forum member however, the device itself was locked. A few unanswered emails after a week and I filed a dispute. Suddenly the email gets answered but I was done. Used the UpMap with no issues. I realize quite a few folks on here promote Deussen but I cannot, your mileage may very.

So you in the USA? If so you ordered through a flaky dude out in Arizona who handles Daniels stuff here. He is the weak link. If you talk direct to Daniel in Germany he will get it cleared up. Maybe you want to take on the job?

RTB Motors? I didn't have an issue and the instructions were sent in an email.

If RTB is dropping the ball that really sucks. Daniel has been awesome to deal with.

I ordered straight from Deussen but admittedly, I don’t recall if there was a middle man via Arizona. I’m only a few more years from retirement so I’m not gonna rule out being an East Coast source for his stuff 😂. Like all of us in here, a lot of the good stuff is only obtainable from overseas so we understand the cost of doing business internationally but it just wasn’t a good experience for me.

The Deussen tune I had on my -22 S really woke up the beast. No problem to install at all with the obd unit. Bike was suddenly running as it was supposed to without any restrictions.

Yeah, Daniel is the most knowledgeable tuner for late model motorcycles that I’ve met. Well, I haven't met him face-to-face, but I have talked with him and watched his videos. There are many tuners for the older, basic manual throttle tps/rpm electronics, but few that understand the fly-by-wire torque/load based. Cars have used it for over a decade, many with factory wide-band O2sensors, due to higher horsepower and emissions targets, but bikes only recently.

I have Deussen as well , he has been super responsive with communication and the tune is flawless. I have this exact tune in the post he claimed 224hp with.

Related but slightly off topic maybe...

How important do we think the actual exhaust is to the tune? Usage is 90% street riding. I'm running a PHL "cored" exhaust which very few people have, so very few tuners have seen it. I started with a Bren Tune, went to an SLR which was better and I'm fairly happy with (no glaring "butt dyno" detectable torque/HP holes or stumbles) but since I haven't dynoed it, I'm wondering if I'm leaving anything on the table. Is obtaining a Deussen tune for a termi/akra/arrow slip-on close enough to be reasonably accurate do we suppose? There are very few dyno shops around here that I can validate on or use a woolich type approach with. I'd prefer a canned tune that was 90% of optimal vs the effort/travel to dial one in completely...specially since it's primarily for street.
