Deussen Tune 224hp V4

How important do we think the actual exhaust is to the tune? Usage is 90% street riding. I'm running a PHL "cored" exhaust which very few people have, so very few tuners have seen it. I started with a Bren Tune, went to an SLR which was better and I'm fairly happy with (no glaring "butt dyno" detectable torque/HP holes or stumbles) but since I haven't dynoed it, I'm wondering if I'm leaving anything on the table. Is obtaining a Deussen tune for a termi/akra/arrow slip-on close enough to be reasonably accurate do we suppose? There are very few dyno shops around here that I can validate on or use a woolich type approach with. I'd prefer a canned tune that was 90% of optimal vs the effort/travel to dial one in completely...specially since it's primarily for street.

If it’s a good tune, almost any exhaust that has the cats removed will get you about the same performance results, you are only talking about a couple HP variance from one after market exhaust to another assuming cats removed on all of them.

You need to remove the cats and tune accordingly, but the major differences in the exhausts once that’s done come down to weight and materials and sound…actual performance numbers vary very little between de-catted exhausts.

The only way to know if you are leaving anything on the table is via a dyno tune, period. As you mentioned, your preference is having a 90% canned tune instead of going through all the troubles of getting to a shop. I think you answered your own question.

Late to the party on this thread due to work obligations but I did not have a good experience with Deussen. Ordered the flasher where the connector and instructions were missing completely. Finally got the connector with instructions from a fellow forum member however, the device itself was locked. A few unanswered emails after a week and I filed a dispute. Suddenly the email gets answered but I was done. Used the UpMap with no issues. I realize quite a few folks on here promote Deussen but I cannot, your mileage may very.

So I just came across this post and immediately contacted Prospected. I do not recall this situation at all and unhappy customers normally stick in my memory. I want to make sure we rectify the situation even though it may have happened a while back. I appreciate all the positive feedback in this thread but I also appreciate bringing up the negatives so I can address them.

Ciao,

Daniel
