Related but slightly off topic maybe...
How important do we think the actual exhaust is to the tune? Usage is 90% street riding. I'm running a PHL "cored" exhaust which very few people have, so very few tuners have seen it. I started with a Bren Tune, went to an SLR which was better and I'm fairly happy with (no glaring "butt dyno" detectable torque/HP holes or stumbles) but since I haven't dynoed it, I'm wondering if I'm leaving anything on the table. Is obtaining a Deussen tune for a termi/akra/arrow slip-on close enough to be reasonably accurate do we suppose? There are very few dyno shops around here that I can validate on or use a woolich type approach with. I'd prefer a canned tune that was 90% of optimal vs the effort/travel to dial one in completely...specially since it's primarily for street.
If it’s a good tune, almost any exhaust that has the cats removed will get you about the same performance results, you are only talking about a couple HP variance from one after market exhaust to another assuming cats removed on all of them.
You need to remove the cats and tune accordingly, but the major differences in the exhausts once that’s done come down to weight and materials and sound…actual performance numbers vary very little between de-catted exhausts.
