Diagnosing Waterpump Failure 19 V4

Hey Fellas,

I'm leaking coolant between the V down the left hand side of my 4k mile 19 V4. I sat there for a good long while with a scope camera to try to see where the leak is actually coming from. As far as I can tell, all of the coolant hose clamp connections seem to be dry, thermostat housing looks dry, etc. There is a hole just below the waterpump pipe connection in the engine casting and it seems like the coolant is coming from there (weep hole?). I didnt even notice this until I shut the bike off and the pool there seemed to drain a bit. I've seen numerous complaints of thermostat housing and waterpump failures, but no real definitive on how it was determined the waterpump was the issue over the thermostat housing.

In this photo, the waterpump housing hose sits right above it but I couldn't see any coolant dripping down from there.

If it is in fact the waterpump, does anyone have more info on what was defective with them and what Ducati did to improve the design? If ordering a replacement, how can I confirm I'm getting the revised unit. Is there a part number?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Was the bike idling for some time when it happened? ie. sat at a stoplight then slow moving and temps rising…Do you recall the coolant temp when it happened?

It would be helpful to know the scenario - this used to happen on my 1299 out of the weep hole when it got above 225*

The pump leaking is a known issue, so yes you need a new water pump. Must remove the whole right side engine cover to replace it. The pump drive gear is the one with the 6-point black oil slinger.

No overheating. I'm kind of pissed because I did a full akra, bren tuning stg 2, a whole bunch of carbon and Ti parts, but also cleaned everything while I was in there. I put about 400 miles on after and then it just start leaking. It will continue to leak once the bike is warm now.

Yeah I looked at the location of the waterpump but was questioning how to properly diagnose that it is the pump that failed and is causing the leak given that the coolant is on the left side of the engine i.e. other side of where the water pump is actually located. Is that weep hole in the casting on purpose so coolant leaks out that side instead of inside the crank case?

Probably different seal materials..
You can see there when left side fairing is off.
There is two holes, both of them leads behind waterpump seal.

Thank you! That makes sense. Guess I'll be doing a new pump.

Is there anything else I should consider replacing while I'm in there? I've seen people experience oil cooler failures. I just don't want fluids getting all over the place, especially the tires while I'm riding

Order all aluminium bolts to clutch housing and waterpump as well.

Oil cooler should be replaced already.

Thank you! I put my VIN in on Ducati's recall lookup and it doesn't show anything open for my bike.

I ordered the cover bolts too. Can the clutch cover stay attached to the engine cover or does it have to be removed first before removing the engine cover?
