Riding the Rumorosa (stretch between Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico), on the last turn before the stretch, bike goes down under me. No injuries, got right up after the fall. Bike's messed up on one side obviously. I did get it on video courtesy of my friends RSV4 (link below).
Still not sure what happened, I'm fairly certain I slid on either diesel or oil or some fluid, this road specifically is known for diesel spills, but still not sure. Tires where in decent condition.
I didn't even notice when I lost the rear (front tire seems to have gone without hesitation as well), I just remember suddenly sliding on the pavement, bike wasn't leaned over much when it happened, the TC was on ( I think 4) and even so, I don't remember cracking the throttle before it happened.
Seems like the ideal spot to have gone down (except for the bus in back of me), just hit the dirt, but still a bummer.

Riding roads is dangerous, careful out there.

Obviously happens towards the end.
I put some somber drone music because as we all know, gopro sound is crap.

Wasn't braking at all, I do remember being on the throttle, but not cracking it wide open.

I just came back from a cross country trip from Atlanta to LA and riding the roads saw small patches of sand where I feared going down. Do you think it could of been a small patch of dirt/sand? Glad your okay and hope nothing serious happened to the Pani.

oh dear... nothing erronous to be seen.. bit of very bad luck on the slippery stuff.. take care...

Wow, that stuff worries me when I'm out riding alone all the time, the random WTF dump with no real reason. Hence, chickenstrips.

That road specifically is a one way toll road, not allot of traffic, no on coming, and no cops, so we take it as conditions permit. Not something we do elsewhere.

You and me both. Down on a negative camber right turn, bike slid and then flipped and may be totaled. Front went out.

Hard to tell what happened...

You sure made a point to add drab music in the video... it depressed the heck out of me.

Glad you're ok man.

Talk about bad luck! no extreme lean angle, on the throttle, no trail brake, not riding fast. You got me. Was there a lot of wind coming off the front of the bus while passing it and then it disappeared after passing it?

This does not happen for a no reason, he did something, just did not register due to the quickness of the event. If I were a betting man, and judging by the way his front folded, I'd say he touched the front brake…

Glad you're okay and you didn't get a helmet full of bus. Can't tell what happened either, it doesn't look like a place where you would have had to grab the front brake for any reason unless it was reflex if you saw sand/gravel and don't remember. What tire pressures were you running?

I was accelerating when it happened, and am pretty sure i didnt even have my fingers on the lever,, let alone putting pressure on it. But hey, I cant say for sure, those things happen very fast, but I really dont see why I would have pressed the brake at that moment.
After looking closely many times i notice that I loose the rear as I go through the lane divider. Some guys later told me there had been a crash atthat spot the day before, a big truck had fallen over. Fluid on the pavement, less likely to wash off the divider because not so many cars pass over that area. Maybe.

Was there a bump there? Reason why I ask is because you have the base model, and the Marzocchi forks have been known to lose rebound damping. Prior to that turn, it looks like you closed in on your friend pretty quick, which would obviously compress the front. Without any rebound, your forks may have been close to bottoming out, and an imperfection in the road surface may not have been absorbed properly. Assuming there was no sudden rider input, it does appear as if the front tucks in quite suddenly.

Anyway, just a thought.

you fell in a good spot.
Previous structures in the video @ higher speed areas could of killed you.
