Riding the Rumorosa (stretch between Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico), on the last turn before the stretch, bike goes down under me. No injuries, got right up

Riding roads is dangerous, careful out there.

Good that you are okay! Lucky that it happened after the guardrail was over!

You and me both. Down on a negative camber right turn, bike slid and then flipped and may be totaled. Front went out.

do i understand correctly that you downed it as well? gee... doesn't sound good... take care..

Yeah. Low sided and the bike caught the rear rim and flipped. It may be totaled actually. Still waiting on insurance to decide.

thanks.
Yes, the ease with which the front goes is what makes me think there was something on the pavement, just slips out.
So many places i could have wiped and it could have been so much worse, feel fortunate is some senses but, still, going down is a bummer.

I'm by no means an expert but there had to be something on the pavement the way that thing came out from under you and like others have said you were hardly leaned.
What ever it was glad you are ok.

Have those Marzocchis checked, they tend to blow the internal bladder and loose all damping.

First time it happened to me I went down the same way without knowing what had happened

That's just spooky. I'm with the others, that has to be from something on the road. If it was a brake issue, it seems like there would have been some visual quick decrease in speed even if just for a moment before the drop.

If it was fluid from an accident, it may be possible to find out about that accident and who was involved and may be able to recover from them for causing the accident.

This kind of drop haunts me. Glad you're ok.

Regarding getting the marzochis looked at, after something like this, am i out of my 2 year warranty? I had some stuff pending like the trip meter turn signal not working. After a slip like this (apperantly only cosmetic) whats the dealer going say?
My dealer has been excellent to me so far.

I was accelerating when it happened, and am pretty sure i didnt even have my fingers on the lever,, let alone putting pressure on it. But hey, I cant say for sure, those things happen very fast, but I really dont see why I would have pressed the brake at that moment.
After looking closely many times i notice that I loose the rear as I go through the lane divider. Some guys later told me there had been a crash atthat spot the day before, a big truck had fallen over. Fluid on the pavement, less likely to wash off the divider because not so many cars pass over that area. Maybe.

Is seems you were accelerating while still trying to lean the bike over/adding lean angle. this would shift weight onto rear and remover weight from front making it easy to loose traction at the front.

That doesn't quite make sense to me, if he was accelerating hard and at max lean angle the rear would have lost traction. Not the front, unless the chassis was unstable and he grabbed a load of front brake. If he was leaning hard and at full front brake I can see what you're saying. Perhaps I'm missing something, can you explain?

Focus boys....his forks are shot to hell! Bet you my last $

Don't think so, he would have noticed the change in handling prior to the crash?

He rides with his fingers on the front brake (few sec before going down), seems plausible he inadvertently squeezed it while opening up the throttle with his palm:

Lost my front the same way last year, no heads-up, can happen within a half mile. Met street guys who had been riding with busted forks for thousands of miles without noticing

I commute every day on a bike, have done track days, and I really dont see myself brakeing in that situation, nor do i remember doing it. But like I said before, I can doubt it but cant prove it.
Regarding the forks, funny that you mention that because after riding a gsxr for a couple of weeks while i replaced the levers and rearsets, i rode my 1199 for a bit and firstt thing i noticed was how loose the forks felt on my panigale.
Now maybe i just got used to the stiffer set forks of the gsxr, but they really do feel very soft.
I will take it in, you think they will work on it under warranty?

Sure. Service bulletin out for these. When they're right they are really stiff. Yours are shot. Been telling you

Not necessarily when you gun it you get a lot of squat on the Pani coming out of turns with lean/no lean. The T/C will not let that back tire loose. The excessive squat was my biggest of the only two complaints i have on this bike. Unfortunately they only fixed the squat issue on the R with the adjustable swing arm. The other issue i had of course is the narrow DES settings. I fixed my squat problem and narrow range of the DES by going with the FGRT 203 front forks where you can set it at 130mm of travel for track vs 120mm road (standard) which keeps traction on the front wheel while accelerating hard. The FGRT 203 also allows a wider adjustments. Of course the squat issue only occurs at track speeds and the video didn't seem like he was accelerating that hard.

Also looking at the video more closely you see multiple steering inputs, i highly suspect steering input while adding throttle.

Please also notice that the corner tightened up at the end just before falling.
