Ducati’s inspiration for the new V4SL

Yea I’m going with info from guys who actually went to the event and info from the CEO of DNA who spoke of this very project collaboration. This looks to be a custom order option but it’s definitely from the factory.

DNA lmfao [emoji23]

Obviously it came from the factory at one point… but the question is why don’t you look to Ducati S.p.A for official Ducati news?

I’ll answer the question for you…

Because you’re one of those guys that thinks that ‘Murica is at the center of the world.

DNA that’s a lol.

Also endodoc with your means there’s absolutely no reason to bitch about how Ducati or any other manufacturer goes about product maintenance. It’s a no brainer for a manufacturer to keep matters in house and the consumer dependent in this capitalist economic system.

If I were you I would slap a stand alone ecu and pdm on any platform that I fancy and maintain it myself.

Bob’s your uncle!

Everyone calm down. Can we agree to two rules?

Guys who build monuments / art out of bikes aren't allowed to complain about components or bespoke or not etc. You are building art so build art. We respect you and will enjoy your work with you but you don't really have a clue about swingarm pivot angle or titanium hardware inside motor. Leave that to the racers.

Only guys who are allowed to pontificate about performance are those who have serious track miles and seat time on more than one ducati and have a decently calibrated butt Dyno.

Most of all everyone needs to respect each other and be open minded. There aren't enough of us knuckle heads to begin with for infighting.

Great idea and we actually tried to do that 4 years ago and a few times since then but it didn’t work well. People want others to hear them no matter what the content or context is.

One reason I detest apple as a company. They trod on right to repair and talk down to customers. Slowing down my phone and forcing me to upgrade for my benefit? Eff no.

Definitely looking forward to the days when your electric motorcycle starts killing it's own power delivery with "it's to preserve the battery," as an excuse.

Current battery tech has the 2018 Energica Ego (what I used to have) rated for roughly 20k charge/discharge cycles before it degrades to 80 percent capacity. That's between 160-200k miles before you're noticing a loss of power. Willing to bet battery tech will magically get worse once they get more common.

huh?

Not sure what you're talking about.... if you have the $ they'll sell you a 1500 hp+ road-legal hypercar and no one's crying foul.

My understanding is each dealer will be allowed to have 10 bespoke orders per year and they are built to spec (components/colors/etc) from Ducati in Borgo Panigale.

....there it is...the factory continuing to give us more of what we want (some of us, at least) ;)

Yes now if the “builders” could get them to just sell frames, motors and swingarms at a cost that’s not the same as buying the whole bike, they could keep all their OEM parts, we could save money and only buy the parts we want and it would be a glorious day. Oh well, it’s a win for some which I guess is still a win.

Now that does bring up a question, what constitutes a “bespoke” order/build. Is it only paint/graphics or can you order different parts?

Oh an not to beat a dead horse, but what the hell, the reason the aftermarket parts biz is what it is, is because the factory doesn’t give buyers what they want. They give buyers what they sell. The buyer then has to spend additional $$ to get what they wanted. The more resources the individual has ($$, skills etc) the closer that bike is going to be what the buyer really wanted. Ducati is I guess testing that model with this offering. My hope is that they open up the options past a paint job and some stickers.

Agreed, I mean come on man. The billet masters are 600 retail. Ducati could get them for half that. The billet rear caliper, 400 bucks. A decent triple, 800 bucks. Put the damn T drives on there, a decent QS, MS calipers and a damn carbon tank. It’s 3k from CDT. Your charging 100k+. Quit giving me components that are on your entry level bike.
Yes but for many buyers of the SL it is their entry level bike to Ducati, these owners get pissed on and believe its raining. Its all about what the marketing dept dictates and how susceptible you are to their seductive ways.

Ducati testing new wings for new SL

Roger Freeth's bike, built by Ken Mackintosh- legendary thanks for a memories he was a great racer and real thinker.

They tried it, but it didnt work.

In 1956 they were into dustbin fairings, the aero was actually pretty advanced for the day and if you look at MotoGP they are doing their best to replicate that smooth airflow

What appeals about these bikes although not street machines is their honestly in seeking performance- no marketing ........ added.

Personally if I could justify the disposible for a toy like an SL, I'd go for this with the power pack upgrade;

Honda built a quality bike that you cant replicate using their street 1000rr as a base
