So its a limited edition to 500 copies and its the same price as the current 1299S? That does not sound right.

Marchesnini: "We have an extra 1000 stock wheels sitting in the warehouse."

Ducati: "Great.. powder coat them gold, and we'll call them special"

**yawnnnn**

They should have gone with the 10-spokes.

Just hope the standard 1299S/1299 for next year gets another colour option as well as red.....

Anyone knows if the upgraded TC can be uploaded to current 1299S? It seems to be a software update only (new algorithm), using the current and unchanged Bosch IMU. From my (very limited) understanding, I don't see a reason why it could not be added to all 1299S?

Would be great to have this on track! Level 1 sounds pretty amazing. I always wanted to pull off some power slides at corner exit but I'm too much of a ..... not wanting to risk a high sider

A good powdercoater.

don't powdercoater you won't get the same color just take your "S" wheels to a good bodyshop they will mach the color (is just the same color of the 1098 tricolores) nothing special it probable $400 to $600 job to do it.I like the bike but there is nothing special about it, let see how many sucker will jump the wagon of "this is the best panigale ever" everything else is just crap this is the best lol.

Am I the only one that is a bit disappointed? I mean, it's a normal 1299S with a slipon, different colours and a dtc tweak. Am I missing something?

yep, me too. same options as with the tricolore in 2012. except an additional software update and a lasered number on the top yoke.

I won't be buying one, but I wouldn't say I'm disappointed. You guys realize it's only $3500 more than a normal S right? I think the Akra, wheels, and updates are worth that.

They weren't shooting for a whole new model here. Wasn't the Tri roughly the same amount more when it came out? Nobody bitched then.

Yes, the DTC and DWC EVO systems can be flashed to the current 1299/S, with the exception of the Japan-market bike, that can't be flashed. Also the Panigale R cannot be flashed to the new systems.

This is the point. It's got a lithium ion battery and some carbon pieces, so it's 5 pounds lighter than the S. It's got a really attractive graphic scheme. It comes with an Akra ti slip-on, mirror blockoffs and a license plate holder blockoff. It's got Pani R geometry up front due to billet steering head inserts. And it's numbered, with a billet top triple clamp like the SL.

That's not too bad for $3,500 more, is it? I left off the DTC and DWC EVO because they're irrelevant for a pricing comparison (since other 1299s can be flashed with them), but it's got those too.

Many thanks for the info! I wrote to two dealers in Switzerland, but didn't get any response at all :(
Would love to get this bike...

just wondering, but why can't the Panigale R be flashed with the EVO system?

If I didn't just buy my S, I would buy this in a heartbeat. The thing I really want is the slip-on installed from the factory. Where I live, no dealer will touch adding anything on that impacts emissions.
