Fabio would have been dragging a shoulder slider at that bike angle.

I take it you did the Ducati event for SL owners?

It wasn't intentional. If I hang off too much, my short arms "hook" the tank. Yes, a spot opened up a few days before WDW2022.

Sorry, I jacked your thread by posting in the wrong place. I'll try to rectify.

My thread is our thread. No worries my friend.

I'm just getting my track game going. After my first track day I realized the importance of body position. My street rides now are just to practice moving around on the bike without disturbing it too much.

My body position has never been one of my strengths. Training on the simulator before the MotoGP ride did help me be less crossed up on the bike. I'm not as limber (or thin lol) as I used to be, and stretching regularly is helping as well.

I really want a home version of that simulator...

I wish I could take my 185lb self from 9 years ago and do a track day. I once ran 12 miles because it was nice out on a day in November.

I would as well. I was told around $15k, you supply the bike.

I've been training hard to get to my 9-year ago weight, but I don't think I've ever run 12 miles in a single day. I can cycle it though... does that count? ;)

Fantastic and thanks for sharing. How hard is it to keep heat in the tires, do they put different rubber on them?

I wish I was a good enough rider to be able to answer that. The tires had more grip than I was capable of exploiting. The lean angle looks pretty extreme (for me and my self-assessed capabilities), but I don't think I was going that fast. It was more a function of me having to lean over further due to my short legs. I wouldn't be surprised if they put on Qualifying rubber for the additional grip knowing that even the fastest of us weren't going to outride the tire. The warmers came off, the bike was wheeled out of the box, we got on and did our 4 laps (including Pit Out and Pit In -- so two laps at "speed"). At no time did I feel the tires with less than velcro like grip. Perhaps this might be different if I were faster, but I doubt it lol.

Can’t I easily get that with aftermarket parts?

No, it's an all included package of performance refinement. eg. the traction control actuates based on pitch and roll tilt angle, speed and road feedback. The software goes exclusively with the new hardware. You'd have to upgrade half the bike. I have the 2020 & rode 2022 at Misano.
Results: It was also noticeably different for me on the track. Everything seemed easier, more sorted. I leaned over farther than I ever have and wasn't worried about it.

Obviously a new Panigale October 7th.

Looks like the new Panigale has been delayed...

Saw this in my Inbox this morning from Ducati, "Ducati informs the press that Episode 4 of the Ducati World Première web series 2023 scheduled for Friday, October 7 has been postponed to a date to be determined."

I wonder if the BMW announcement has had a say on this.

The new BMW S1000RR?

I cannot imagine it making any change to the design of the bike, since things around this are finalized many months in advance.

My best guess might be a change in pricing, to be much more competitive with BMW, but they could still make their announcement with only pricing TBD, although Ducati likes to announce pricing and delivery when product announcements are made.

Yeah, that's the odd part. If it were just pricing, they could simply change that at the dealer end and leave it fluid for now.

Not likely. (Road going) Ducati homologation specials have been priced at the WSBK 40k Euro price cap for at least 15 years. If anything, I can see adding more to make it a better value for the consumer.

The new BMW S1KRR is not a homologated bike that is the M so I wouldn't think it makes any difference for Ducati. This just seems to be another game that the Italians play to drum up interest.
