When I quit my job to embark on 'Round the World with an Italian Supermodel', I intended to try and fulfill two dreams of mine--1) to see the world from a top one of the most brilliant bikes ever made before I die and 2) to paint my way around the world as I went. I've shared the former with y'all, but haven't shared much of the latter. So here goes.
Originally inspired by what I saw at World Ducati Week in Milan (and my personal tour around the Factory in Bologna with the Project Manager for the SL, Paul Ventura), I knew the Superleggera would be my next project. After WDW I sketched both paintings out, but the demands of travel and writing meant that it took months instead of weeks to finish them. Both works have traveled across Italy, Austria, the CZ republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and now the Rep. of Ireland, where I finally put the last touches on 'em.
I've been painting for most of my life (more work can be seen here), but it's only been in the past year or so that I made a real attempt to combine two of my passions (Ducati and painting).
Clearly I'm probably obsessed in some sort of unholy way. But my first thought in the morning and the last thought I have at night is probably no different than any of you.
