Being my first ducati. 4th bike.
I ride it more then i have ever then other bikes.
I met some really nice ducati owners and have looked at there bikes.

My question is why do people only clock about 2000mile-3000km less a year.
Way im goin ill be goin over my insurance allows me which is 8000km a year.

This isnt to bag those that do less miles. More just to confirm reasons possible.
Ie. Tooo many toys

Not necessarily posers but people who tend to enjoy finer things in life...and tend to come off like they are rubbing it in other people's faces. Perception has a lot to do with it too. This day and age, if you can afford then you gotta hate on someone that can in order to make yourself feel better in one way or another.

This is just my opinion, but Ducs are a luxury purchase for most owners, which means they tend to ride them for pleasure more than necessity. We also tend to have more than one bike in our stable. All equate to lower mile bikes.

don't worry about anyone else other than yourself. or as they say, keep your side of your street clean. ride and mind your business ;)

This is my third Ducati, and the way I'm going it will easily out do the K's of my last two.

My monster696 had the most, but still low, at just under 10k for the year.
My Streetfigther, should have done more, but I had made up my mind, on trading it for the 1199.

i've 3000 k's in two months of weekend use.

My bikes don't get many miles. I work 6 days a week and my Duc's allergic to rain. She does the occasional short runs up the mountains on beautiful days and the race track once or twice a year. Oh yeah, she tends to avoid Starbucks and were both old enough not to have to prove anything. Pure Enjoyment!

I'm definitely a poser but it has nothing to do with my ducati!

My 1098s did 14,000 k's in year 1, 7,000 in year 2 and 3,000 in year 3.

The Panigale has nearly 3,000 in 10 months ...

Basically priorities change, life happens, call it what you will.

Work .5 miles away from work, so I walk. Second bike is an r1200rt for long trips. Pani in stable for pure pleasure.

I agree with rm4two on his quote," but Ducs are a luxury purchase for most owners, which means they tend to ride them for pleasure more than necessity". This is my 4th Ducati and all of mine had low miles on them. The lowest was my 999 which I really didn't like that much. My 1098 has about 8 thousand miles on it and my 1199 has 1900 miles. I ride both of them to work and hit the Hill Country here when I can so yes, "we do like the finer things in life" like Castor Troy said and take care of them. We all ride when we can so that's why some of us have low miles. It's a very fine lady you want to baby and take care of. Treat her right and she will treat you the same, a well refined motorcycle she is...................

Ducati is a poser brand for sure, but that's just a stereotype. There will always be people who break a stereotype. I see guys using Ferraris and Lamborghinis as their daily drivers all year including the winter in Vancouver...

As for your insurance km limit, never heard of that one before! I remember doing 8,000km in 2 months on my first bike.

Are Ducati owners posers? Maybe some are. I have not met many Ducati owners who are not keen bikers and truly interested in motorbikes. Mileage varies for several reasons as many have said above. I did not need to have a superbike for road riding so some could say I am posing riding a racebike on the roads. I did not need another bike or another Ducati. I simply fell in love with the looks, power and the bike's technology and had to have one.

I got my Panigale exactly three weeks ago and have done 3313 km with it.

I am putting .... load of Miles on mine...and my second bike even more. My 6-8 months away will slow it down. lol.

It's not about Ducati owners being posers I think. Imo the people who buy the "exotics" (Ducati, Aprilia, MV Augusta, BMW) tend to have a more mature mentality: if it's not a fun day to ride, I ain't riding.

The real posers are the ones who ride when it's absolutely miserable just so they can be seen riding. Got a friend with a GSXR that does that.

I don't think so. I would say that most have these bikes as toys & have cars that get more daily driver use. I definitely put more miles on my bikes when I was in college in my 20's & before kids.

Duc owners are often known as the Starbucks crowd unfortunately. I am on my 3rd Ducati and the group I ride with hate that I don't like to hang out but ride twisty roads all the time and they can't keep up with me. Bikes are meant to be ridden and a Ducati is no exception!

Yeah...although I consider coffee shop riders to be part of any brand. There are two types of riders, those that take the highway straight to Starbucks, and those that take the riding roads to Starbucks. The reality is, just about everyone who rides a bike stops for a coffee/snack/break.

NOT at Starfucks! ;)
