As a Ducati owner and fan for nearly a decade my thoughs and prayers go out to the many families and citizens of Italy affected by the coronavirus.

For the record, it's not another tiny virus to blame here (as us humans trying to survive), but scared people in charge - our so called leaders - who enforce economy crippling measures.

If we as humans, striving for illusion of control and certainty, would just accept similar natural ill- & death-tolls as from any other seasonable Influenza or other Corona cousins, this .....-19 wouldn't have gone 'viral'. #sad #rehearsal #Darwin

If we from now on put our whole world in lock-down every time a new unknown virus/ bacteria/ microbe pops up, our human progress will be thrown back into the tribal ages.

Containment really is an unsustainable illusion with our global economic trade- and production models.

There are other structural ways to >not< loose the battle to much more worrying germs then this .....-19 as Doc Michael Osterholm lectures about.

As said, .....-19 is just an expensive global rehearsal to test our leadership, agility and ingenuity aka our will to survive... competition is fierce and relentless though.

As an Italian immigrant to the United States my compassion is not only those who have lost family members but also to those who are hurting economically as well. I agree there are people who use, take advantage of, or profit from the suffering of others, this post is dedicated to the people of Italy.

Maybe the world on lockdown sets the stage to drain the swamp

Pretty simple, covid19 will overwhelm health systems if it isnt contained. Prevention is necessary as it will kill a lot of people. Its not a hoax or a dry run, its not left vs right, it doesnt care who you are. Dont handshake, wash hands regularly, dont touch your face, self isolate if feeling shady.

When I was young I met an old man who remembered as a boy the bodies piled up at one of our city stations waiting to be sent to the burner in 1918. This is serious .....

I think there are more questions around the origins than answers at this point still

Paul, experts do agree on this. Containment will help smoothen the spike, but we should NOT put the whole world in lock-down but just ring-fence the weak (i.e. ill, old, smoker & obese) and let normal healthy just get it like any other seasonable flu to build up resistance against this unknown RNA of the Corona variant.

We can’t prevent, only delay.
There is no cure(yet). In the end (sorry, figure of speech!) experts expect upto 70% of the world population to get it.

Again just like similar virulent, airborne transmittable human-to-human type viruses.

Probably, estimates range upto, 650k worldwide. In the order of yearly seasonable flu proportions.

Why don’t we act with the same grim measures with each yearly flu pandemic!?

Completely agree. Sorry, it’s just meant in a figure of speech. Indeed this virus is serious like any other Corona or flu.

But if you listen to Doc Osterholm, we really ain’t seen nothing yet, there are much worse germs to come which will dwarf .....-19! Not “if” but “when” is the question, if we don’t adapt, prepare and invest accordingly.

Therefore what I mean is that in comparison with the ‘germ future’, the currently for .....-19 over-the-top applied world-wide measures, seems to me to be ‘just’ a -very real- expensive dry run. On a positive note, our actions and measures against this bug will teach us a lot in preparation for the really serious germs to come...

Amen, yet since .....-19 can transmit human2human while airborne in tiniest of aerosols, washing your hands is more for not getting any other bug than .....-19! lol aka normal hygiene we should always apply

Again estimates expect upto 70% of all humans to become infected at same point in time, with currently only 130k registered cases...

This virus won’t go away (ever!), nor die out within a matter of weeks and our already crippled world economy can’t deal with prolonged lock-downs. Probably bankrupt entrepreneurs will kill themselves first before this virus can? ;(

Possible scenario for near future, not .....-19.

Fact is that there are much more dangerous germs to come, like mutated HxNx flu variants, waiting for their opportunity (e.g. in ideal breeding grounds like Chinese floating markets and 3rd world moist dumb-yards), if we don’t start acting differently sooner rather then later.


Don’t take my word for it but plz do listen to this Doc. He knows his stuff.

Essentially agree, I am not an expert in epidemics or virus's by any means.

When I say prevention I mean flattening the curve, some medical professionals are saying up to 70% of the population will get it, meaning its unavoidable. I am probably high risk being late 50's and had a dose of bacterial pneumonia are few years ago that said I cant be bothered with panic and have a bit of a ".... it dude lets go bowling" attitude

I am doing my best to educate my friends and family about hygiene etc If any of our forum members in Italy can let us know first hand that will help. In the meantime our NZ govt is shutting down the borders, stage 1 is all incoming to self isolate.

How abt my and my family’s crazy “conspiracy theory” that when we all got wiped out sick in January and the doctors told us “there’s a new virus going around” ... that we already had and beat this thing

I never get sick, took all precautions but still got it because it’s an engineered pathogen
