Due to insurance issues, I cannot get insurance on a Supersport motorcycle so the Panigale V4 is out of the picture. With the frame and engine being so similar/identical on the Panigale and the Streetfighter, I was wondering if I could put the fairings, clip-on handlebars, and headlights of the Panigale V4 on the Streetfighter V4? Would they be a direct fit, need minor modifications, or need extensive modification.

Unless you are making a track only bike I wouldn't bother. The side fairings aren't going to be the issue and the tail and tank are roughly the same. The fuel tanks are different as is the seat and the way it mounts. The nose fairing, headlight, forward frame section and the wiring that will be a pain.

I'm glad I purchased the way less capable and dangerous 208hp Streetfighter over the so-deadly-it's-uninsurable-Panigale..

I agree! It would be quite the challenge, but with the way insurance is for me, I only have 3 option: find the rare insurance company that will bother to give me a ".... off" rate instead of just telling me to .... off and pay it, compromise and just use the Streetfighter as it, or go through with this mountain of a project.

This is one looney forum.
Indeed! You have to be at least a bit loony to even think about getting on a majestic, death-rocket, let alone make it one of your favourite things to do. Not even exaggerating, I love eating new, good food to death, but if I had to choose between giving up riding or only eating prison/hospital food for the rest of my life, you best believe I will be eating that .... food with the biggest grin.

It's crazy how insurance companies can be right? If a motorcycle is classified as a super sport, they will automatically refuse to give you insurance or give you a ".... off" rate, even if its a 80 hp 1992 gsxr 600, but if its a widow maker like the Streetfighter V4, but technically classified as a naked bike or a Streetfighter, its no problem.

As much as I love these bikes, if you can't afford insurance for it then you should probably be aiming for something with a lower price point. Also try shopping around for insurance. I had USAA with Progressive when I bought my V4 and the absolute minimum they would quote me for was 700 bucks a month. Insane. So I shopped around and found someone who was willing to give better coverage for 130 a month.

In order to get everything from the V4 over, you would probably have to swap out front/rear subframes and the tank at a minimum. With the price you'd pay in getting the parts from a Panigale, I don't see how you're saving any money with that idea.

What did you do that makes insurance companies tell you to .... off?
Plus if he's riding it on the street mostly, which I assume is why he needs insurance, the SF is a way better street bike than the Panigale. So basically he wants to take a great street bike and make it a worse street bike for way more $ than insurance would cost him.

But maybe the OP is onto something. A trend to turn race bikes into naked bikes has now turned 180 degrees and from today-on people will be lining up to turn nakeds into race bikes.

I just absolutely love the design of the Ducati supersports. I was absolutely in love with them when I saw the 848 evo for the first time as a kid.

I agree with your point that you shouldn’t get a motorcycle if you can’t get insurance, but the thing is, regardless of what motorcycle or the price of it, if it is classified as a supersport, it’s automatically a big red flag. I was previously riding a HD V-Rod and I paid 900 CAD/ year for insurance on that and I am currently paying 700 CAD on my FZ6R, but when I was getting quotes for an old GSXR600 I was previously planning to buy, they told me to either .... off or pay 3000 a year, which is more than half the value of the bike itself.

I would have loved it if Ducati made a sports tourer with the aggressive looks of the Panigale’s, similar to how Honda made the CBR650r with styling that can compete with supersports all day long. I don’t do racing or track riding; I just want something for the streets with the sexy red front of the classic Ducati.

You mean the Supersport? Because you basically just described the Supersport.

So if I’m paying $1800 yr for RSV4 1100F, 1299 and 1250RT I’m doing ok with Geico in FL?

Kind of hard to compare without coverage details but I'm with State Farm and just under $900 yr for the 2021 Panigale V4S.

That sounds about right, I’m somewhere around $700 for the Ape, pretty much same deal as the V4S.

I couldn’t do it. I’d be finishing my Chai Tea at Starbucks, making those last few steps out of the lobby as I toss the empty ocean friendly cup into the recycle bin. As I walked out to the street fighter, I’d stare at that glorious red, the engine for all to see. It would start the same, maybe even sound the same. But as I turn right out of the parking lot and bang off the rev limiter through the next three gears the missing 6 horsepower would be eating away at me. It would just leave me in a mood all day. I would find some consolation in that FL doesn’t require a helmet and I’m ultimately safer on a bike that costs 1/4 of much to insure.
