Ducati tech says not to use Redline oil?

PHD, MBA, Master of law, etc... Stating facts without resources and telling someone to go look it up to support your claims makes your claims nothing more than a guess or opinion. "Redline and RP are consistently near the bottom of the pile."

Has anyone experienced this bottom of the pile performance that this man speaks of? Has anyone prematurely worn an engine out or suffered engine failure due to using Redline or RP?

10 years of RP did one of my cars engines wrong. Redline the exact opposite, after 5 years it still looks like brand new inside. RP does tend to leave allot of deposits under the valve covers where RL is sorta self cleaning.

You always hear this comment but it's never the point. It's increased wear by degree - far more difficult to quantify. Comparative UOAs help, which very few people bother with but they should, it's like checking your blood. I was a member on S2K for years and some of those guys were true fanatics, they posted UOAs and standardized test results for many different oils.

Amsoil is not just hype (which is what I used to believe, I thought it was the Amway of oils) - it really is superb stuff. The only other oil I use is Neo in (car) transmissions. It's harder to find information on Motul because so few people use it - it seems to be good but some of the test results have been mediocre at best. I'm not convinced it's worth the high price but guys like Kent K (Sport Rider) swear by it.

Sorry, S2k?

Do pro teams use amsoil or Neo in MGP, F1, DTM, WEDC, WRC?

I've used Mobil1 exclusively since I began driving vehicles which required synthetic oil. I run Mobil1 in everything. I've heard its crap from a few diff anti-Mobil1 people, but again, when you've had turbocharged or high output vehicles with over 220K miles on them, or Ducs with more than 45K miles on them, and a teardown/inspection showed no issues, it's hard to change brands....

Thanks dude. I just wanted to know if these cases existed. Because if I search this stuff on Google, I'm sure I'll find abnormal engine wear that will probably be blamed on god knows how many diff brands of oil.

I agree with you on Mobil 1, and friend and I did a bit of rally driving when we were young, blew a head gasket half way through the stage but still completed the stage, running extremely hot as you could imagine, no motor damage and we put it down to the quality of the oil....Mobil 1.

Cheers

Mobil 1 EP is good stuff, Amsoil forced them to up their game - standard M1 was lacking
